A meeting between Pope Francis and Cardinal Claudio Hummes has touched off speculation that the Pope might support a move to allow the ordination of married men as priests.
Cardinal Hummes, the former prefect of the Congregation for the Clergy, has indicated his support for a discussion of allowing married priests in areas where the shortage of clergy is particularly acute, such as in the Amazon region of his native Brazil.
Sandro Magister, the veteran Vatican-watcher for L'Espresso, reports rumors in Rome that Pope Francis intends to devote the next meeting of the Synod of Bishops to discussion of the clergy: a topic that would allow for debate on the issue of celibacy.

Me too but it amounts to them doing a 180 reversal, ie, that they were wrong.
And they are. There are no biblical restrictions that mandate priests/elders/deacons/overseers have to be celibate and not marry.
Most that enter are not the ones Paul is describing that can handle that kind of life, and says they are better off married, but he never goes on to say those that marry must then be denied the priesthood.
I think allowing retirees might work.

Well,there is no biblical command requiring unmarried priests.I also find no biblical requirements or justification for all those “holy orders” such as Jesuits.Monks and nuns life was not part of Jewish culture , unless I misread . And Jesus Christ was born and lived as a Jew !

There is absolutely no sound Biblical argument that states otherwise, and as a matter of fact, when Paul was laying out the requirements, they involved a wife.

Not letting priests marry is a bastardization of what Paul advised early church apostles.
RCC twisted celibacy “recommendation” as a way of ensuring maximizes Vatican / diocese coffers, in that unmarried clergy means no widow and orphan payouts.
Never mind that the unnatural cruelty of being barren and sexually frustrated has resulted in THOUSANDS of Priests sodomizing TENS of THOUSANDS of children ‘round the globe.
The irony is that their unnatural scheme has resulted in far greater cost, ie: HUNDREDS of MILLIONS in victim settlements.
RCC is dying out.
Allowing married clergy is a step in the right direction, and may even help counter the large threat that gay dominated seminaries pose.

It's just a rule, not doctrine. Rules can always be changed, and it has nothing to do with being "right" or "wrong."
Obviously Jesus is special,and for Him to have begotten children would have changed everything.
Nor do only perverts seek to become priests.Boys were encouraged to feel called to the priesthood in the fourth grade and steered in that direction until graduation. Perverts get all the media attention because the media hates God and good people.

BTW, according to the John Jay College of Criminal Justice, over 86% of those priests were homosexuals. I guess they must have been frustrated because they couldn't get married, either.

My sister works for a parish that has a married with grown children priest. He used to be a Lutheran minister who converted and has his own parish who love him.
Every single person, of any faith or none, or group that supports abortion, ‘gay marriage’, and priestesses/female clergy also invariably hates the Catholic’s discipline of male celibacy for clergy and think it should end. That the discipline of the Latin rite Catholics should be ended is one of the very few things where some conservative Christians and invariably all of the liberal humanistic sorts will agree. There’s not one liberal group out there that likes the discipline and thinks it should end.

In fact, virtually all the Apostles were married, which was the rule rather than the exception among the Catholic Priesthood till the 10th century.
As homosexuality has become increasingly acceptable among the leadership of many Christian denominations, most prominently Anglicans and Lutherans; many of their Ministers are finding their way back to Rome w/their families and are being welcomed.
Pure speculation. It won’t happen.
