Absolutely Charles Stanley would NOT cater to the Obamas. His son went off the rails a long time ago.

Very well put. I agree.

One doesn’t have to ignore the teaching in the Bible—just follow it; but it is not and end to itself. Christ is.

So what does the Bible say about divorce? The Old Testament allowed the Jews to divorce, or so they thought.

But Jesus brought out a new—actually old— command: No divorce.

Some say infidelity is the only reason you can get a divorce. Others, like the Catholics, forbid it, and thus have to have the marriage declared false, through the technical mumbo-jumbo logic of annulment, even though every one saw the marriage performed, and the husband and wife, now joined as one person, may have consummated it. So if a priest or minister says, Under the power of God, you are NOW married, can another man or men simply take that away?

Jesus says marriage is for your entire life.

To most folks, Divorce is okay for wide variety of reasons. I’ve seen pastors tell abused women to seek a divorce. I do believe they’re not following the Bible, and especially Jesus’s commentary on the Bible—or Scripture of His day—in regards to divorce.

It’s a huge theological trap-hole for those who profess to follow the Bible to the letter.

The best thing the senior Stanley can do is remain celebrate until death.

If he went to DTS then one of at two things have transpired:

1) He was not taught/didn't learn the truth concerning the doctrine of Bibliology and the study of Apologetics. (Highly unlikely given the fact he went to DTS)

2) He is an Apostate who rejected/didn't believe the truths he was taught concerning Bibliology and Apologetics.

Doesn’t Andy Stanley have two men in his church who are “married” to each other? And it’s fine and dandy with Andy?

....”Jesus says marriage is for your entire life”...

Show me...and further that there aren't circumstances where it's perfectly understandable....

If I was married to a man that abused our kids...he's history....if he was cheating...if he was consistently irresponsible in the marriage contract. I'd be done. It takes two people at the oars to row a boat....

It's a hard lesson, but Jesus said so in Matthew Chapter 19.

Well, He says all of Scripture, so I guess all of it.

I did not know that Mrs. Stanley disputes Scripture.

It takes two to make a marriage...it takes just one to break it.

There is nothing in the scripture that tells people they can prevent someone from leaving if they choose to do so....Dr. Stanley’s wife did just that...she left.

God says, he hates divorce.....so obviously he understands that's going to happen or he would have said far more than that he hated it.....Surely he knows and planned that marriage be permanent, but we do live in a fallen society and it is not always possible to follow his plan when there is not co-operation in doing so....

Divorce will always tear apart the foundation of all stable societies – the family. But sometimes it's necessary. Sometimes, it's even unavoidable..... if one spouse files for divorce, the other cannot stop it from occurring.

IN my opinion most divorces are rooted in the fact that one or the other partner no longer wants to "do" marriage anymore. ..everything else else that follows starts at that point of the bridge beginning to crumble...

A pastor said, “An emotional divorce always precedes a physical one.”

From that point (your “bridge”) there is a process of finding ways to justify the breach to oneself.
