If you think that calling on the Mormon Jesus saves you because of the same name as the Christian Jesus you might as well call on this guy for salvation:

So, you think the Apostle John was referring to Jesus Corona in John 3:16?
That’s silly, Gamey. You don’t think that.

P-Marlowe was a Mormon once upon a time. He heard the gospel and believed. Is he the only one in history?

If you think that calling on the Mormon Jesus saves you because of the same name as the Christian Jesus you might as well call on this guy for salvation: I think it may depend upon whether that Mormon has a full understanding of the Mormon concept of Jesus. The Mormon God is a polytheistic counterfeit. I don't think I ever accepted the actual concept of that God while I was a Mormon. I was always uncomfortable with the thought that Man can become a god and that God was once a man. Such a theology is a bastardization of the incarnation which is a singular event in the history of the universe. God became a Man, but no man ever became God.
My journey from Mormonism to Christianity was interrupted by a short detour through atheism. Having been convinced that Mormonism was a lie, I was not ready to accept that any concept of God was real.
However I did run into the real Jesus in a Christian coffee house on Beach Blvd in Stanton CA (next the muffler shop) on a Friday night in May of 1971.
Of course I now realize that I was not pursuing Christ, but that Christ was pursuing me. :-)
My journey can be summed up in the lyrics from a song by Third day:
Who is this King of glory that pursues me with His love
And haunts me with each hearing of His softly spoken words
My conscience, a reminder of forgiveness that I need
Who is this King of glory who offers it to me

Pretty much nails the point, GC. At a fundamental level one cannot simply believe in Jesus as an abstract person with incorrect characteristics, be saved, and then have the blanks filled in and the errors corrected after the fact. Otherwise it would be perfectly acceptable to get people to confess faith in Jesus Corona so that God could then exercise His sovereignty over these "believers" and bring them to a right understanding of the real Jesus.
