Is the Jesus of Mormonism the Jesus of the Bible?

James White dialogs with Alma Allred.
James White is a Christian apologist and founded Alpha and Omega Ministries (http://www.aomin.org/).
Alma Allred is a Mormon apologist and an LDS Institute teacher (http://byteline.blogspot.com/).
This event took place on July 15, 2016. It was organized by Christ Presbyterian Church in Salt Lake City (http://www.gospelutah.org/). A special thanks to Jason Wallace.
“God created Jesus “
Christ has always existed as God.
He was neither created, nor made.
Christ now has a glorified body.
Don’t forget that mormons also believe in a Heavenly Mother - or more than one + countless other Gods on other planets.
It is worse than Hinduism with its 350 million gods.
God created Jesus through the virgin Mary. What are you talking about. Jesus prayed to His “Father” To”forgive them for they know not what they do” . You have the Father, Son and Holy Spirit . The Trinity. Pretty simple stuff.
“God created Jesus through the virgin Mary. What are you talking about.”
No He did not. Christ existed in all eternity as God.
Phillip said show us The Father and we will know beyond doubt that you are Messiah.
The essence of His teaching to them on that identity is that all we humans can see of God The Father Almighty is where HE intersects out spacetime limits AS JESUS. As Jesus said, 'all you can see of the Father is what you see in me, for I AM in the Father and The Father is in Me.'
A simple analogy is trying to show a pencil of three variable space to a being who exists in only two variable space. The only place the pencil would be sensed is where it intersects the plane of the two-variable world, so it is impossible for all three spatial variables of the pencil's real existence can be sensed in a two-variable realm.
God created heaven and Earth — not Jesus? I don’t know where this comes from? You have the Trinity. 1. God THE FATHER, Jesus ,2, THE SON and 3. the Holy spirit. The Trinity. Are you familiar with the “TRINITY”?
If you see one of my sons— you see me. I don’t know about “pencils” but I can count to 3. The Trinity is all part of the concept of God but they are three distinct entities.” In the beginning there was God.” I think that professional Christianity loses credibility with these fictions. God so loved us that HE gave His only SON !! That whosoever believes in HIM ( the SON) shall have everlasting life ( there is no everlasting life in Hades) . God didn’t create Himself 2000 years ago. God is God. HE “GAVE HIS SON”. Not himself. The Holy Spirit was SENT!! Not God!! God doesn’t send Himself.
Yep, know all about that too. Thanks.
“God created heaven and Earth not Jesus?”
No. no one created God. He has always existed as God and always will.
What kind of cult are you in FRamigo?
You have my apology ... I did not think that analogy would gho over your head. Sorry.
I had two Mormons come to my door and I showed them how Rome’s Jesus isn’t the Jesus of the bible.
They never got to tell me about their book.
They probably shared a little too much Rome in their Jesus too..
Protestants would be advised not to wonder too much other Jesuses without first testing if they, too, have Rome’s Jesus of December 25, Good Friday and Easter Sunday..
That Jesus can be explained away as another Jesus with another gospel- but not in the way the Protestant daughters think about.
pretty humbling, but only will it be seen if He blesses one with the eyes to see..
I think it may depend upon whether that Mormon has a full understanding of the Mormon concept of Jesus. The Mormon God is a polytheistic counterfeit. I don't think I ever accepted the actual concept of that God while I was a Mormon. I was always uncomfortable with the thought that Man can become a god and that God was once a man. Such a theology is a bastardization of the incarnation which is a singular event in the history of the universe. God became a Man, but no man ever became God.
My journey from Mormonism to Christianity was interrupted by a short detour through atheism. Having been convinced that Mormonism was a lie, I was not ready to accept that any concept of God was real.
However I did run into the real Jesus in a Christian coffee house on Beach Blvd in Stanton CA (next the muffler shop) on a Friday night in May of 1971.
Of course I now realize that I was not pursuing Christ, but that Christ was pursuing me. :-)
My journey can be summed up in the lyrics from a song by Third day:
Who is this King of glory that pursues me with His love
And haunts me with each hearing of His softly spoken words
My conscience, a reminder of forgiveness that I need
Who is this King of glory who offers it to me
I got into a good discussion with a friend about belief years ago.
I said “Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ and thou shall be saved!”
He said “The Devils believe! Are they saved?”
I said (this was about 1986) “Do you believe Reagan is the President of the USA?”
He, being a Democrat hemd and hawd and finally said
“Yes.”
I said “Do YOU believe in the policies of Reagan?”
He said “NO!”
I said Same with Jesus. You can believe who he is, but not on him to Salvation!”
not the perfect response but it worked.
I agree. He’s great.
Get away from the KJV as fast as you can.
But tell us since you went there, what version/translation of the original Biblical Hebrew, Aramaic, and Greek do you suggest those of us who read and comprehend English should put our faith in as totally reliable.
Surely if must be the one you use, so please share that knowledge with us less enlightened ones by revealing that authoritative translation..
Thanks be to God, The Hound of Heaven found another one!
You missed my point entirely.\\
Read again what I wrote and then read your Hebrew and Greek Scriptures.
No one changed the text. I never said or implied that the Authors knew or did not know Gods Holy Name. However, regardless. The “SOUNDING” or correct pronunciation of the word is NOT CONVEYED via the written language. Therefore being lost.
So my learned friend, please explain why my reasoning is flawed. I am sure you a fully aware that the original Scriptures were not WRITTEN IN ENGLISH. Why then is it the English version that substitute “YHWH” with “THE LORD?”
Have you ever wondered why?
Actually, I use independent word searches of the Greek and Hebrew dictionary sources . Aramaic was unusual in scripture . Jesus spoke often an Aramaic and John ( if it was written by the eye witness) actually reported what Jesus said using Jesus Aramaic words in John 3:3. There is a huge volume of commentaries by apologists and skeptics to wade through. In the end you must use your own mind which is not what you are supposed to do in professional Christianity. You are to present as Sheeple before the pulpit and “head bob” positively and give them your money as agents for God )who owns everything anyway).
I am in believers of Christ as the Son of God Christians. To call Mormons ( which I am not) a “cult” is blatant naked judgmental bigotry.
