I grew up listening to “the world tomorrow” with Herbert and Garner Ted Armstrong on late night radio as we cruised down the highway coming from Grandma’s house...

For much of the last 60 years or more, the unspoken assumption was that it would come about the end of the millennium.

Even the irreligious had that built-in uneasiness about the end of the 1900s; you’ll remember the Y2K craze.

I do remember way back when the assumption was that the European Common Market provided the skeletal structure of what was coming. Most writers assumed the Vatican played a role. And the Soviets. And the Red Chinese.

We didn’t foresee the rise of Islam.

The Common Market has evolved into the EU, so it remains to be seen if they play a role. The Soviets are gone, though of course Russia still exists... we wonder sometimes if Russia and and obamist US might have switched places... :)

Walid Shoebat sees the antichrist as Islam; he says, why are Christians trying to decipher who it is that will be beheading them when there are people beheading you right now?... He may be right. Makes sense to me.

More recently was the shemitah craze that puts everything into this year, marked by the “blood moons”. But one of my current favorites kicks the rock down the road to about 2033 or so. Whew! that gives us a little time to let our 401K reach maturity... :)

I’ll probably check out of this mortal coil before that gets here, so I’ll have to watch from the other side.

Good post. I like to watch those prophesy church channels just to see how differently they interpret scripture to prove the Rapture and its immediacy then follow the news. They made a big deal out of the EU and how this one guy who hosts Prophesy In The News was all connecting it up to the coming World Leader; unfortunately since the UK left and other countries want to leave it sort of shatters that idea of one World rule buy some guy.
