Whatever happened to praying to God?
Catholics pray to the Saints who are indeed alive in Heaven. God hears our prayers coupled with the prayers of the Saints. Check the book of Revelation for one of many, many cases in the bible of intercessory prayer and Saints praying.
All Prayers, end game are to God, Intercession is nothing more than trying to get other Saints, you know those in heaven whom God has already appointed, to Pray for us to God. Just as we lonely souls here pray for others how much more will those Souls whom are already in Heaven with Our Lords help? Remember they are Greater than John the Baptist in our Lords eyes.. Remember he is the Lord of the Living not of the Dead.
You might also want to seriously learn about the Rosary for it will benefit your Soul Greatly.

Nothing "happened" to praying to God. We all pray to God: you, me ... for that matter, Mary prays to God.
we do. But Mary also prays to God for us. Doesn’t hurt to have her on our side.
