Render unto Caesar.
Who are the alleged “owners”, if not Catholics?
Me either.
Never mind the wordy explanations about the real estate. A picture trumps a thousand wordy explanations of why, or who did what, and the pictures clearly suggest Gestapo forces suppressing Christians to make way for new rulers, whom everybody knows are the Muslims and the Communists.
And that’s why your patiently waiting for the jackboots at your door.
This is heart-breaking on many levels.
Thanks for posting...
Just because I am paranoid doesn’t mean that they are not out to get me.
Do you think that the state will only use its SWAT teams against criminals that you dont like?
Fail to pay your taxes and see who really owns the property you have been setting on for over a hundred years.
Not even believing in Roman Catholic theology I still find this sad, that they lost a worship center where they could worship God in the way that they believed best.
But there are certain Christian principles that have to be brought to bear, it seems to me, such as that of living at peace with all men as far as it depends on Christians. I’ve been privy to evangelical Christian outreaches in France and they don’t require cathedrals; they will meet in a store front.
Maybe the Roman Catholic traditionalists will need to meet in a humbler place than this for a period. If they really believe God ought to be worshiped in that manner, losing a building shouldn’t be allowed to stop it. I guess they made their point here, that losing the building was a great tragedy, even though they way they did it was a questionable witness to larger France. Now they should let God move them on.
Why wasn’t the Lord able to help them raise the sum needed to purchase the building. The Lord is very generous indeed towards obedient servants for everything that they need. But maybe they really didn’t need the building and God wanted to show them that they could worship equally well or better without it.
This wasn’t a case of taxes going unpaid here. It was a matter of one worship group living at the pleasure of another one that did not share the first one’s beliefs, including the importance of the building.
Caesar was only the arbiter of the earthly transaction.
Some one else paid $3 million for the building. Its now theirs.
The state agrees with the intervention of legal authority.
The priest and congregation knew that it was going to happen.
This was all a act for the cameras.
Too bad there were no cameras a week ago when a Catholic priest got murdered on the alter. THAT publicity could have sparked genuine outrage.
This was nothing but a circus show.
You’re a good man, HiTech.
Sometimes my faith wobbles around. You often help me focus. Thank you.
Well thank you for the compliment, but it ought to go to the Lord.
I’m as evil as anybody else except for the grace of God. That’s why I try to explain things by means of the grace of God. That is the only sure-win formula.
And it pains me to see a Christian worship service, of any flavor, being used for mere theater — waah, our former benefactors sold the cathedral. I thought the show-biz mindset was something only the televangelists got involved in... I guess not.
The cathedral in our hearts is the thing that God sees. That cathedral in Paris, that’s a building, it’s nice, it’s grand, it’s impressive, but by itself it never saved a soul and might even confuse Christians through excessive devotion to it. Maybe it was time to move on. Like Jesus himself warned when someone spoke of the grand temple building... it’s soon going to fall and become rubble. Don’t lean on it.
No one had bought that church yet. It was still owned by Catholics and those Catholics kicked out fellow Catholics while offering a Mass in a Catholic church.
From Breitbart:
The church of St. Rita, aptly enough the patron saint of impossible causes, has been closed for almost a year as the owners the religious association of Catholics and Apostolic Chapels have sought to clear it for demolition. The site is to be turned into a car park and flats by a private developer.
Previously bricked up by the owner, the former religious community who used the church broke down a cinder-block wall and resumed services in the building. After the court of Paris gave judicial authorisation to clear the community out in January, the Paris commissioner of police was requested to give assistance reports Le Figaro.

That’s actually a good argument regarding who originally paid for, built, and maintained the property.
Seems like once again, the little people get screwed.
