WASHINGTON Thousands of youth flocked to the National Mall in Washington, D.C. on Saturday for the ecumenical gathering Together 2016, which sought to unite those of various backgrounds to stand together for Jesus and featured a video endorsement by the leader of Roman Catholicism.
The event featured speakers such as Francis Chan, Ravi Zacharias, Lou Engle, Christine Caine and Southern Baptist Convention President Ronnie Floyd, as well as music from Michael W. Smith, Hillsong United, Lecrae, Jeremy Camp, Lauren Daigle, Casting Crowns and Kirk Franklin, among others.
Everything now is protests: Im against this or I hate that. We really believe there is a longing to come together. We dont have to agree on everything, but we can come together around the hope of Jesus, organizer Nick Hall of PULSE told the Washington Post. There are moments when Gods people come together, and God does something that can heal, change, define generations.
Worship leader Matt Maher, who identifies as Roman Catholic, also told the outlet, If were singing the same songs together, then we cant yell at each other. He has outlined at other ecumenical events that he believes it is his calling to work toward to the unification of Christians and Catholics.
Weve never seen a unified church before in the history of the church since the Reformation. We dont even know what it looks like, he said at OneThing 2015. I think what the work of unity starts with [is]: It starts with us praying together. It starts with us fellowshiping together. It was quite the event last Saturday. Several hundred thousand Christians praying and worshiping on the National Mall.
My wife and I went for a few hours until they closed it down early due to heat and an impending rocking thunderstorm.
It was great to see so many young men and women standing for Jesus.
I was out of town and watched live streaming. Many church friends attended. I wonder what they cut out in order to shut down early. Supposedly, several hundred were affected by the heat and the police said the event had to end.
Yea, it made sense to cut it out. It was extremely hot and water was hard to come by if you didn’t have any.
They were selling it but vendors weren’t all over the place. At one point, they started just passing it out by the case.
We think that we missed Josh McDowell by just a few minutes. My wife and I met at a Campus Crusade meeting and we’ve enjoyed him for nearly 30 years.
I’ve seen him speak at a couple Crusade conferences and at Creation festivals in the 80’s.
Ecumenism: the new Vatican II religion
Did they invite the Muslims along for some koran-kissing?

Yeah, I caught that too. Ya gotta laugh!
:)
I passed by the site on my way to union station. No one could tellme what they were setting up. The mass gathering should have been news.
Just more of the same. We know how it ends.
1. A few hours is more than enough. You got the "flavor," atmosphere and words.
2. I bet it was!
