The Layman ^

Posted on 06/22/2016 6:29:09 PM PDT by Vinylly

I thought Christians were supposed to pray to God. When did they become Islamic? I'm quitting my local Presbyterian church for sure. This was announced in the latest Presbyterian Church USA, 'The Layman', their internet news letter.

Obviously, you were attending a congregation that was affiliated with The PCUSA (The Presbyterian Church,USA)..

This Denomination is at it’s very soul; MARXIST..they emphasize “SOCIAL JUSTICE” above all.

The HISTORIC Presbyterian Church has always embraced The Westminster Confession of Faith, (1643) which is a CONSERVATIVE, BIBLE BELIEVING statement of faith.

The PCUSA seems to have embraced The COMMUNIST MANIFESTO as it’s main confession of faith.. sure; they’ll tell you that they also use the Westminster Confession.. but.. nah.. in reality.. they haven’t done so in a LONG time..at least since the early 1900’s..

Want to find a GOOD, CONSERVATIVE Presbyterian Church ? .. GOOD!~! Find a PCA church.. (PCA-Presbyterian Church in America) This denomination LEFT the PCUSA in 1973...PRECISELY because the PCUSA denied the central truths of the Bible.

There are smaller Conservative Presbyterian denominations around.. perhaps you might do a google search for the Orthodox Presbyterian Church (the OPC), or perhaps the Associate Reformed Presbyterian Church, or the Reformed Presbyterian Church of North America.

There are others, just google CONSERVATIVE PRESBYTERIAN DENOMINATIONS.

My family are members of a Presbyterian Church within the PCA.. believe me; you won’t hear the nonsense at any PCA church, that you do in the PCUSA.. BUT you WILL hear the Gospel preached every Sunday, the Word of God faithfully explained.

You will NOT hear this liberal junk that the PCUSA majors in. Run away from the PCUSA as fast as you can!

Remember.. you have options.. ALL Presbyterian Churches are NOT alike!

There are some Presbyterians who still believe in the Bible and preach and teach accordingly. We are members of an Orthodox Presbyterian Church. There are others such as the Presbyterian Church in America. The PCUS ceased being a true church long ago.

>>I see a majority of Christianity being corrupted, as they too move away from God and the Bible to accommodate an increasingly sinful flock that they attract. Because sadly, I believe it is all about the money, not God.<<
I mainly agree with you about the move away from the Word, but I think it is less about money than it’s the liberal, amillenial approach that’s been handed down for generations.
The solution is on the internet. Find a good expositor of the Word and frequent them. You might alos stay away from the “new Calvinism” and John Piper (eg. regeneration precedes faith in Christ, infant baptism, regeneration through parents, lordship salvation).

I’ll agree to a degree, but in too many instances it is about generating revenue. Which of course is accomplished by increasing the flock and pandering to them, while ignoring God and the Bible.

NOT PC America

That distinction needs to be made..
PCUSA has always been the liberal wing of the Presbyterian denomination.
Sad, the day the Southern Presbyterian Church joined them.

PCA is the Presbyterian denomination of choice.

This was foretold long before before the Mormon prophets:

2 Timothy 3:1-5

But realize this, that in the last days difficult times will come.

For men will be lovers of self, lovers of money, boastful, arrogant, revilers, disobedient to parents, ungrateful, unholy,

unloving, irreconcilable, malicious gossips, without self-control, brutal, haters of good,

treacherous, reckless, conceited, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God,

holding to a form of godliness, although they have denied its power; Avoid such men as these.

My Presbyterian church....Oh and they asked for donations to buy Father a house next door

Sure that's not an Episcopagan Church? Presbyterians (of any stripe) don't call their clergy "father".

I’m in this church because it’s my wife’s denomination. She likes the whole “priest can marry” thing.

So I call him Father because I can’t remember what his title is. Father _______ just seems right.

I dunno. All I know is that when that elder walks in with her jodpers and chaps and velvet helmet (Yeah... the helmet too. She leaves the crop in the car) I just get upset. The additions to the church are also dedicated to those who had them built - with VERY large pictures on the walls praising how righteous they are.

It’s just not god’s house, if you can catch my drift.

As we Mormons just sit back and watch it all unfold as the prophets said it all would...

Speaking of prophets...

Are you DAMNED, SP??

"Now if any of you will deny the plurality of wives, and continue to do so, I promise that you will be damned;

and I will go still further and say, take this revelation, or any other revelation that the Lord has given,

and deny it in your feelings, and I promise that you will be damned.

That's not an official publication

So?

It STILL reported the TRUTH of the Opening Prayer!!

“Allah bless us and bless our families and bless our Lord. Lead us on the straight path – the path of all the prophets: Abraham, Ishmael, Isaac, Moses, Jesus and Muhammad,” and so went the prayer offered up by Wajidi Said, from the Portland Muslim Community, as part of the “first order of business” during the opening plenary session of the 222nd General Assembly of the Presbyterian Church (USA).

Wajidi was taking part in the assembly’s scheduled time of remembrance for those killed in the recent Orlando terrorist attack and those killed last year in the shooting at the Emanuel African Methodist Episcopal Church in downtown Charleston, S.C.

I never said anything about "Mormon" prophets.

I did.

And this well respected Mormon did as well:

In conclusion let us summarize this grand key, these “Fourteen Fundamentals in Following the Prophet”, for our salvation depends on them.

1. The prophet is the only man who speaks for the Lord in everything.
2. The living prophet is more vital to us than the standard works.
3. The living prophet is more important to us than a dead prophet.
4. The prophet will never lead the church astray.
5. The prophet is not required to have any particular earthly training or credentials to speak on any subject or act on any matter at any time.
6. The prophet does not have to say “Thus Saith the Lord,” to give us scripture.
7. The prophet tells us what we need to know, not always what we want to know.
8. The prophet is not limited by men’s reasoning.
9. The prophet can receive revelation on any matter, temporal or spiritual.
10. The prophet may advise on civic matters.
11. The two groups who have the greatest difficulty in following the prophet are the proud who are learned and the proud who are rich.
12. The prophet will not necessarily be popular with the world or the worldly.
13. The prophet and his counselors make up the First Presidency—the highest quorum in the Church.
14. The prophet and the presidency—the living prophet and the First Presidency—follow them and be blessed—reject them and suffer.

I testify that these fourteen fundamentals in following the living prophet are true. If we want to know how well we stand with the Lord then let us ask ourselves how well we stand with His mortal captain—how close do our lives harmonize with the Lord’s anointed—the living Prophet—President of the Church, and with the Quorum of the First Presidency.

Ezra Taft Benson

Totally agree here. And taking it further, I believe this is Laodecean-ism, by which I mean a church that is not even Christian, with Christ excluded.
I’d say apostate, but doesn’t apostasy presume a declension from fundamentals once held???

apostasy

the abandonment or renunciation of a religious or political belief

They haven't come right out and denied Christianity, but rather watered down tenets of Christianity. However, one can assume that apostasy may be behind it, for sure. I liken it to those who desire to change the Constitution by continually picking and choosing which parts will be adhered to and which parts will be ignored. They do not come right out and say the Constitution needs to be abandoned, but that is their true goal and desire nonetheless.

The warnings of the apostles did not deal with the imminent persecution outside the church as much as the danger from false teachers inside. John’s epistles, Paul’s admonitions — with tears— to the Ephesian elders and his warnings to Timothy; even Peter wrote about it.
These are the ones who cause the most damage (eg. gnosticism; Judaism then, charismania, higher criticism, amillenialism, “New Calvinism” now). Now they run most of the Christian seminaries.
