Pray For the Peace of Jerusalem

Matthew lists the Apostles in the order in which they were called, and we see that James and his younger brother John were up there in the "first tier". Jesus had an unusual name for these two brothers, but it is only disclosed in Mark's Gospel. This is atypical of Mark, who usually kept to an action-packed narrative. Luke was more likely to get into personal relationships and amusing nicknames. But...there you go. That is what makes the differences in the Gospels so interesting!

Tomorrow we will discuss the nickname and what it could have possibly meant.
