**God has done important work in my spiritual life during that timethank you, Lord! Spiritually, I am now younger, more confident, and stronger, even as my body agesthank you, Lord. **
Isn’t this what we should really be concerned about?
Most people outgrow that (if they had it at all) desire.
I want a body like a car: it just needs to basically work, get a lot of miles, get me where I need to go, and not break down too often.
There is nothing that says one can’t be fit both physically and spiritually - in fact I believe the bible commands it. Nobody is ever to old to a perfect, fit, lean body. The heath, psychological and spiritual benefits of being in good shape are incredible. It just takes a lot of hard work and discipline, something the author doesn’t appear to want to put out. But that’s OK, it’s his choice.
Looking around at the average American, I’m not seeing this obsession being a particularly acute social problem at this time. :)
