Even ignoring the gay side of this story, his conduct is reprehensible. When you take an oath before God, "forsaking all others, until death do us part," that should mean something. Even if your word has no value, when you bring children into the world, that carries a moral obligation to be there for them for 18 years, and beyond.

Anyone who supports this selfish idiot for coming out and being true to himself, but would object if had met a cute younger woman and left his family, needs to rethink their values. Besides being a pervert, Trey Pearson is a disgusting loser. He should be ashamed of himself, as should anyone who supports his betrayal of his wife and children.

He should follow Jesus, who works every time He is tried.

replied that he wanted to wait a year before entering into a relationship with a man. “I am not dating. I decided when I was going through all of this to take at least a year just to get to know myself as a gay person—to know this knew part of me, before I start getting to know who somebody else is in that sort of way,” he replied.

Translation: I’m going to hit the bathhouses and the rest areas as hard as I can for a year and then we’ll see.

Only the old hymns are spiritual: hardly anything since 1960 is any good, with a few exceptions here and there.

Agree 100%. The theology in most of the older hymns is stunning. John W. Peterson seems to be the last to write songs that are pithy. As time progressed, his became a bit on the fluffy side — but still better than what’s common now.

What everyone is missing, myself included, is the fact that he is left his wife, turning his back on the wedding vows.

I did not actually see the episode, but read it as a quote in Jesus Made in America: A Cultural History from the Puritans to the Passion of the Christ in the chapter discussing contemporary Christian music.

Good book. I recommend it.

I love contemporary Christian Music. Having said that, CCM artists are sinners just like the rest of us. Some, who knows how many, are phonies just looking for cash & fame. Others however are truly inspirational and God inspired. I pray for them that God protect them from the evil one as they are drawing attention to themselves.

NKJV
1 Peter 5:8 Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil walks about like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour.

Sara Groves. Fernando Ortega. Keith Green. Steven Curtis Chapman. Casting Crowns. Third Day. Kim Hill. Bebo Norman. These are some of the artists, in my opinion, that are the real deal.

Sara Groves especially.

Never heard of him, and I listen to Christian Contemporary. Sounds like a fake Christian who could no longer abide a God who disagrees with his lifestyle choices.

“I want to see my church change. I want to see our denomination change...I want to see people to be willing to have the conversation in an open way where they are willing to listen to people’s stories.”

He must have bought all that inclusivity crap at Cliches R Us. Or maybe an Episcopal Bookstore.

But hey, if you’re born an alcoholic, isn’t the commandment the same? Deny yourself?

I am an alcoholic, and yes, my nature urges me to drink a couple of sixpacks a day. Plus, I'm a born horny guy whose nature urges me to sleep with every woman I meet.

Somehow I've managed to put my natural desires aside in those situations.

What really sucks is when men who marry into a heterosexual relationship , father children and have a home life with their married hetero partner. How does one know if one’s husband was in the closet? I certainly never did & came as a complete shock & surprise.

Things fall apart because of the husband’s in-effectuallness in maintaining a stable hetero relationship with his wife & children and is incapabable of nurturing others than himself and his neediness in sustaining one or more homosexual relationships.

It was a devastating journey well behind but we survived.
