(1 Peter 2)

2 Therefore, rid yourselves of all malice and all deceit, hypocrisy, envy, and slander of every kind. 2 Like newborn babies, crave pure spiritual milk, so that by it you may grow up in your salvation, 3 now that you have tasted that the Lord is good.

The Living Stone and a Chosen People

4 As you come to him, the living Stone—rejected by humans but chosen by God and precious to him— 5 you also, like living stones, are being built into a spiritual house[a] to be a holy priesthood, offering spiritual sacrifices acceptable to God through Jesus Christ. 6 For in Scripture it says:

“See, I lay a stone in Zion,
    a chosen and precious cornerstone,

and the one who trusts in him
    will never be put to shame.”[b]

7 Now to you who believe, this stone is precious. But to those who do not believe,

“The stone the builders rejected

    has become the cornerstone,”[c]

8 and,

“A stone that causes people to stumble
    and a rock that makes them fall.”[d]

They stumble because they disobey the message—which is also what they were destined for.

9 But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, God’s special possession, that you may declare the praises of him who called you out of darkness into his wonderful light. 10 Once you were not a people, but now you are the people of God; once you had not received mercy, but now you have received mercy.

We Pray For The Peace of Jerusalem,
According to Your Will and Promise.
We Pray For the People and Leaders of Israel,
that They Will Look to You for the Protection
and Prosperity of their Nation.
We Also Pray For Revival in our own Beloved USA.


We Pray For The Swift and Sure Coming of Messiah,

Pray For the Peace of Jerusalem

Anyone who is in ministry has learned that there are some who are brand-new believers, some who have been faithful for many years and are mature, and there are some who pretend to be "spiritual" but who are using the flock for their own agenda. Peter recognized this right away, and since the entire church was in its infancy, there must have been very few mature Christians who could help protect and nurture all the "Babies". That would make the majority of the new believers very vulnerable to the "wolves in sheep's clothing".

Peter compares the patient, kind, and nurturing mentoring of new believers to that of nursing a child at the breast. (There were no "baby formula factories back then!)

This is interesting, as God's Word is compared to mother's milk, and corresponds to the earliest Name for the One True God, back in Genesis, when God revealed Himself to Abraham. The Name by which God was known to Abraham was El Shaddai, which is derived from an old Hebrew word for the nursing breast.

Peter's rustic past as a tough-talking fisherman has totally redeveloped into a whole new creature! Not only are his letters deeply personal, but they show a profound understanding of History, Linguistics, and Theology.

Several instances in the Book of Acts tell us that others saw this transformation and remarked upon it.

They are Orthodox and Catholic, Protestant and Evangelical, Coptic, Pentecostal, and Baptist. To the persecutors, we are all "Nazarenes."
