Any communist/socialist infested place could use a Pinochet, and observing the recent “protests” we are getting darn close to it.

Time for a small semantics lesson. You used the term “the church.” You meant “his church.” And he’ll toss the Orthodox overboard the moment Patriarch Kirill deviates from his Kremlin-approved lines.

Ha, ha, I don’t think the Orthodox do confessions the way the Catholics do.
To: Mrs. Don-o
I’m surprised he kept his shirt on.

“It wasnt until the double-whammy of 1) his wifes car accident in 1993 and 2) a life-threatening house fire in 1996 that Putin began questioning his atheism. During a vulnerable moment before Putin departed for a diplomatic trip to Israel, his mother gave him a baptismal cross. He said of the occasion:
I did as she said and then put the cross around my neck. I have never taken it off since.3
Now, Putin has become a bit of a zealot. “

Impressive apparel. Though there is much to be said for the Latvian Orthodox, also.

It was HIS baptismal cross.
Just fyi.

If Putin poisons journalists then I think we could use about a dozen Putins.

In the proper sentence structure the noun is “Putin”. Therefore, the first pronoun refers to the “Putin”.
If I wanted to say W was a Christian I would have written:
“When Putin met with W, a Christian, in Crawford, Texas he said he was an atheist.”

In choosing the antecedent for a pronoun, a case can be made that the antecedent is the subject of the sentence (Putin). Alternatively, a case can be made that the antecedent is the nearest appropriate noun (W).
In either case: Crawford ... comma ... Texas ... comma!!!

Putin sat on the "Θρόνος", the "Throne" which all Orthodox churches have. Usually it's for a bishop, but any big wig can sit on them. I suspect one of the God Ordained emperors may well have sat on this particular one, but it wasn't then nor is it now reserved for emperors.
