OOooooh!
I see that; but I failed to see ANYTHING in the threads that might have precipitated it.
Speaking of rules; what happened to your fellow Catholic verga?
Maybe you need new glasses.
:)
Well; EVERYone knows that Mary was the first Catholic; so SURELY 'not in the Catholic church' means something; right?
And nose; too?
I smell no brimstone or even napalm this morning.
Yes, it had to be those Protestant miscreants, those malcontents, those interlopers, those disturbers of the religious peace. (Actually, it was the Muzzies) 😀😄😎😆
Jesus was the first Catholic.
I disagree bro. He was Jewish.
Is there anything that I ever agree with you on? Probably not. Oh well. That is ok with me. 😄👍
I don't believe you're a Catholic at all
I think you're a funny psy-op operative just having fun with whoever will respond to you
I think their rules say they must have sex, so after Jesus was born, Mary lost her virginity and had a ton of kids.
Of course He was Jewish...right up until the time that He established His church....remember, upon this rock I will build My church.....then He and the Apostles became the first members of His church which very shortly became known as the Catholic church.
I disagree bro. He did not build his church on a sinful man. He built it on himself, not on Peter. I think James was the leader of the Jerusalem church, the son of Mary and Joesph, after they had a ton of kids.
then He and the Apostles became the first members of His church which very shortly became known as the Catholic church.
I disagree bro. Remember, only born again Christians are "true" members of His "church."
Remember, only born again Christians go to Heaven (John 3:3) Everyone else goes to Hell. Are you a born again Christian?
Of course....I, and you, were born again when we were baptized in the Catholic church....all else is meaningless.
I disagree bro. A baby is not even aware of his/her surroundings. Too young to be able to make a decision for Jesus. Baptism is an outward sign of an inward change of heart. Baptism does nothing but get you wet.
I got baptized in the swimming pool in Vietnam. It was a hot day, so it was nice, but baptism has NO power whatsoever, to save you, and if you are depending on baptism to save you, then you are in deep kimchi already.
Millions of people, who thought they doing fine, will end up in Hell. Don't be one of them. Only TRUE, REAL born again Christians will go to Heaven, not people who falsely think they are OK.
If you are trusting in baptism, good works and church membership, to save you, stop NOW, before it's too late. 😩
terycarl ... PLEASE cite chapter and verse for that comment
You've been shown; countless times; the Roman teaching that PROVES what you have typed here is wrong.
WHY do you persist with the LIE?
Basil of Seleucia, Oratio 25:
'You are Christ, Son of the living God.'...Now Christ called this confession a rock, and he named the one who confessed it 'Peter,' perceiving the appellation which was suitable to the author of this confession. For this is the solemn rock of religion, this the basis of salvation, this the wall of faith and the foundation of truth: 'For no other foundation can anyone lay than that which is laid, which is Christ Jesus.' To whom be glory and power forever. Oratio XXV.4, M.P.G., Vol. 85, Col. 296-297.
Bede, Matthaei Evangelium Expositio, 3:
You are Peter and on this rock from which you have taken your name, that is, on myself, I will build my Church, upon that perfection of faith which you confessed I will build my Church by whose society of confession should anyone deviate although in himself he seems to do great things he does not belong to the building of my Church...Metaphorically it is said to him on this rock, that is, the Saviour which you confessed, the Church is to be built, who granted participation to the faithful confessor of his name. 80Homily 23, M.P.L., Vol. 94, Col. 260. Cited by Karlfried Froehlich, Formen, Footnote #204, p. 156 [unable to verify by me].
Cassiodorus, Psalm 45.5:
'It will not be moved' is said about the Church to which alone that promise has been given: 'You are Peter and upon this rock I shall build my Church and the gates of Hell shall not prevail against it.' For the Church cannot be moved because it is known to have been founded on that most solid rock, namely, Christ the Lord. Expositions in the Psalms, Volume 1; Volume 51, Psalm 45.5, p. 455
Chrysostom (John) [who affirmed Peter was a rock, but here not the rock in Mt. 16:18]:
Therefore He added this, 'And I say unto thee, Thou art Peter, and upon this rock I will build my Church; that is, on the faith of his confession. Chrysostom, Homilies on the Gospel of Saint Matthew, Homily LIIl; Philip Schaff, Nicene and Post-Nicene Fathers (http://www.ccel.org/ccel/schaff/npnf110.iii.LII.html)
Cyril of Alexandria:
When [Peter] wisely and blamelessly confessed his faith to Jesus saying, 'You are Christ, Son of the living God,' Jesus said to divine Peter: 'You are Peter and upon this rock I will build my Church.' Now by the word 'rock', Jesus indicated, I think, the immoveable faith of the disciple.. Cyril Commentary on Isaiah 4.2.
Origen, Commentary on the Gospel of Matthew (Book XII):
For a rock is every disciple of Christ of whom those drank who drank of the spiritual rock which followed them, 1 Corinthians 10:4 and upon every such rock is built every word of the church, and the polity in accordance with it; for in each of the perfect, who have the combination of words and deeds and thoughts which fill up the blessedness, is the church built by God.'
For all bear the surname rock who are the imitators of Christ, that is, of the spiritual rock which followed those who are being saved, that they may drink from it the spiritual draught. But these bear the surname of rock just as Christ does. But also as members of Christ deriving their surname from Him they are called Christians, and from the rock, Peters. Commentary on the Gospel of Matthew (Book XII), sect. 10,11 ( http://www.newadvent.org/fathers/101612.htm)
Hilary of Potier, On the Trinity (Book II): Thus our one immovable foundation, our one blissful rock of faith, is the confession from Peter's mouth, Thou art the Son of the living God. On it we can base an answer to every objection with which perverted ingenuity or embittered treachery may assail the truth."-- (Hilary of Potier, On the Trinity (Book II), para 23; Philip Schaff, editor, The Nicene & Post Nicene Fathers Series 2, Vol 9.
At least verga had the good sense to quit making a fool of himself here.
I'd bet it cannot be found even in the CCC!
terrycarl is a protestant, fundamentalist teacher and has been forcing you guys to do your homework so that YOU guys arer the TRUE preachers/teachers of the Word
Nothing ELSE makes sense about him
I think Philippians 2:5-7 helps expain:
1. Jesus was in form of God = Equal. (John 1 he was creator, etc)
2. Did not regard equality with God a thing to be grasp
3. He willing made himself lower for a little while taking on the form of man in the flesh.
Phil 2:5 Have this attitude in yourselves which was also in Christ Jesus, 6 who, although He existed in the form of God, did not regard equality with God a thing to be grasped, 7 but emptied Himself, taking the form of a bond-servant, and being made in the likeness of men. 8 Being found in appearance as a man, He humbled Himself by becoming obedient to the point of death, even death on a cross.
You could be right bro. Not much makes sense. Remember, iron sharpens iron.
