Glad I left the Methodist Church 25 years ago. I saw the writing on the wall back then, as the Bible continues to be less and less a part of Church teachings in all the major churchs.

A friend of mine is a UMC pastor. He says the pro-homo elements are pushing very hard for the change. The African bishops and delegates, who oppose the change and stand a chance of stopping it, are publicly-dismissed in terms that are paternalistic if not racist. Oh, the irony!

In the Progressive heirarchy, the Gay Card trumps all. Then, in order, comes the:
Islamaphobia Card
Race Card
Woman Card
The Gay Card trumps all because it is their perfect storm: money, destruction of family, sexual deviance, counter-manliness, counter-feminine, and prideful.
UMC clergy is full of gays, including a lot of pastor-pastor marriages where the woman is quite butch and the man is quite feminine.
