I was looking more for a scripture like:

Your words are revealing and they are my words also, too many times.

Why would we preach something different? Possibly because the word repent offends people? We tell the sinner God loves him but don't love them to tell them the whole truth. There is no forgiveness of sin without repentance.

GOD PREACHED IT:

Eze_14:6 “Therefore, tell the people of Israel, ‘This is what the Sovereign LORD says: Repent and turn away from your idols, and stop all your detestable sins.

JOHN THE BAPTIST PREACHED IT.

Mat 3:1 In those days John the Baptist came to the Judean wilderness and began preaching. His message was,
Mat 3:2 “Repent of your sins and turn to God, for the Kingdom of Heaven is near. “

JESUS PREACHED IT:

Mat 4:17 From then on Jesus began to preach, “Repent of your sins and turn to God, for the Kingdom of Heaven is near. “

Luk_24:47 It was also written that this message would be proclaimed in the authority of His name to all the nations, beginning in Jerusalem: ‘There is forgiveness of sins for all who repent.’

Rev 2:5 Look how far you have fallen! Turn back to Me and do the works you did at first. If you don't repent, I will come and remove your lampstand from its place among the churches.

THE APOSTLES PREACHED IT:

Mar 6:12 So the disciples went out, telling everyone they met to repent of their sins and turn to God.

Act 2:38 Peter replied, “Each of you must repent of your sins and turn to God, and be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins. Then you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.

Co 7:9 Now I am glad I sent it, not because it hurt you, but because the pain caused you to repent and change your ways. It was the kind of sorrow God wants His people to have, so you were not harmed by us in any way.
2Co 7:10 For the kind of sorrow God wants us to experience leads us away from sin and results in salvation. There's no regret for that kind of sorrow. But worldly sorrow, which lacks repentance, results in spiritual death.

you have that right about repent! I should have given an amen to your comment.

One has to know what sin is first and boy, lots of leaders have their own definitions of that, too.

‘Everyone did what was right in their own eyes’ comes to mind.

Fitting that verse is in ‘Judges’. thousands of denominations, sects, offshoots, gay pastors, etc. Lots of babel. many opinions. many ‘king like’ blind leaders of flocks.

Only 1 King matters. and at my count, He used repent 7 times in the last Word to His flock, Revelation.
