I have a serious question. If Pope Frank passes away and Benedict is still living does Benedict regain his status as pope until a new pope is elected?

No. The Catholic Church has special procedures for limited governance by senior Cardinals during the period known as Sede Vecante.

Don't know for certain but my guess is, no.
