I’m a libertarian, so as long as Dad Gubmint doesn’t stick his big fat snout in my affairs I’m cool with just about anything consenting adults do. The problem is the Left will never allow that. It won’t be enough for them to make gay marriage a legal reality - they will insist that we publicly endorse sodomy or else face loss of livelihood, professional licenses, and so forth.
There has always been a weird tension between religion and the state’s involvement with marriage. I think a lot of the state’s involvement has never made any sense, and has been terrible for the institution of marriage and the human race, at least in the modern era.
