Most hospitals have Christian Chaplains.
Should be on call 24/7, as should a priest.

It's not that big of deal, really, other than my parish priest told me someone would be there before surgery and therefore I was expecting someone. I'm not sure what they would have done anyway other than a blessing, right ? A friend of mine says they give you the last rites in case something goes wrong, but I'm not sure. If I hadn't been told to expect someone and had never seen priests at hospitals all hours of the day and night over the years I doubt I'd have noticed. Could be a shortage of people, too.
Oh, a nurse said they called someone which is where I got the 15:00 cutoff information, forgot to mention that. Good of the nurse to call.
