He will never be my favorite pope but when he earns our respect and obedience in the matter of protecting human life at every stage of development, his conservative critics should back off and treat him with the respect he has earned on that issue. When I say the rosary and get to the point of praying for the intentions of the pope, I add two qualifiers. First: especially if his intentions conflict with my own. Second and far more important: intentions that are consistent with the will of God. I never felt it necessary to add qualifiers in the time of JP I, Pope Saint JP II or Benedict XVI.

May God bless you and yours!

Bless you, Black Elk.

I suppose I was taught that as a child; or at least, I don't remember being taught it but I picked it up: that when I pray for "my intentions" or anyone else's, I add "if they are conformed to God's will."

That part you added which links up with that, "...especially if his intentions conflict with my own,"--- wow. It shows a humility I sure need to work harder at every day.

If I may ask, please pray for me and for a particular loved one I have in mind.
