Almighty Father, guide Ouchthatonehurt’s brother as he seeks his freedom from abusing alcohol, and in all other things. Help him have the fundamental honesty with himself needed to be free of problems, and grant him strength, along with those around him, to triumph to Your Greater Glory. I ask this in the Holy Name of Our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ, Amen.

There’s nothing in the bottle that helped before. A better life is almost guaranteed in sobriety. It just gets better all the time. Pray for the way out.

Oh, how I pray this works for him and that he is restored to a place where he can find peace and comfort, and care for himself and his family.

I’m so happy that he recognized the problem. That is half the battle. God bless him and his family. I’ve been there myself (my dad) and it was rough growing up with an alcoholic. I pray for healing for all involved.

Hopefully he realizes the hospital is only good to control the detox period (about 4 days will leave the sousiest souse alcohol free) and he needs to dig deep for a concerted long-term effort - preferably AA. Also understand that AA is the most effective venue and it only averages about 10% - been without booze for over 27 years and have watched a lot come and go - many more on the "go" end of the deal.
Prayers up.
