Catholic University Advertises Gay Mass

"All members of the Marquette Community are invited to participate"

Marquette University is offering a monthly LGBT Mass on campus.

Marquette University is a Catholic institution founded in 1881 by the Society of Jesus, more commonly known as the Jesuits. It is one of the most famous Catholic universities in America, and is lauded for both its academic and sports programs.

However, like other Jesuit universities, its theological formation has grown far from its staunchly Catholic roots. In December 2014, a teacher told a student not to say anything opposed to gay "marriage" because it might offend other students, and any opposition to it in the first place should be considered inherently "homophobic."

In response, John McAdams, a tenured associate professor at Marquette, wrote an angry commentary on the controversy, saying, "Like the rest of academia, Marquette is less and less a real university, and when gay marriage cannot be discussed -- certainly not a Catholic University."

As a consequence, rather than being lauded, the university suspended him from campus and placed him under investigation.

It should come as no surprise, then, that Marquette has now openly advertised a monthly campus Mass in support of the LGBT movement. According to its website:

In following the call of Christ and with fidelity to the teachings and witness of the Church, Campus Ministry strives to meet the pastoral needs of students who identify as being lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgendered, questioning (LGBTQ) or allies through the following resources:

Monthly Mass with the LGBTQ & Allied Community

All members of the Marquette community are invited to participate in a monthly Mass that provides a specific welcome to students who identify as LGBTQ and Allied.

When ChurchMilitant.com contacted Marquette for an official statement on the Mass, the university hung up on us without comment.

Totally agree with posts 4 & 5 above. Christ’s message of love and redemption means recognize your sins, honestly attempt to put them behind you, accept God & Christ, so you can live better now & forever. MU is embracing both the sinners and their sinful acts which is the wrong path to lead its students down.

You are right.

How can they meet their weekly Mass obligation when they only offer a monthly Mass?

To use leftist rhetoric, one would call embracing both hateful. I cannot imagine anything more cruel than encouraging others to sin. The loving response is the classic: "love the sinner, hate the sin".

Is it true the Vatican owns some gay ‘clubs’ in Italy? Drudge had something about it a few days ago...
