The mayor elect might want to review the following:
“Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.”

How did Salt Lake City—of all places—end up with a lesbo Mayor-elect?

Separation of church and state except when the state wants to butt in on a religion’s practices. Another example of liberalism’s mental disease.

This kind of government interference is the very thing that sent people fleeing to the New World. It’s also the point behind the First Amendment.

Salt Lake has a very high gay population, in part because in the Mormon view they don’t exist so the Mormons simply pretend they aren’t there.

But the city itself is perhaps only 50 percent LDS, and has a significant and vocal gay community. Biskupski's election, fueled in part by commercial interests opposed to restrictions on advertising billboards, would mark the first time an openly gay politician has won the position.

SLC proper only encompasses a small (in square miles) urban area. If it included the whole county, Dems would have a harder time winning. The GOP hasn’t won the Mayor’s office since Jake Garn (later U.S. Senator) in 1971.

It's also the point behind the First Amendment. And the second and most of the other eight.
The gay mayor-elect doesn't really want to sit down and talk with anybody, he just wants them to bend over for him.
