It is my opinion that when one reads the Bible, one must understand that the ‘lessons’ of the Bible are in LAYERS.
For instance, this prophecy. You say it referred to the time of Christ and Rome as the center of civilization.
Yes it did. But it also applies to each of us on a daily basis. On a lifetime basis. AND on the entirety of the civilization of the descendants of ADAM.
It was a warning for those who lived back then, and it’s a warning for us now.
Because MANKIND seems to like to keep making the same mistakes, over and over. And doing it on a larger scale.
And evil men and seducers will wax worse and worse, deceiving and being deceived, until the time of the 7 year tribulation, a time when God will miraculously show His wrath to the nations of the earth who rejected Christ and shed the blood of His saved sinners, the saints of Christ.
Because MANKIND seems to like to keep making the same mistakes, over and over. And doing it on a larger scale.
That's why Jesus had to die for us - many may not achieve perfection but they can be forgiven and saved.
The same lessons/warnings that you point out are no more salient than other parts of the Bible - like the parts that tell us how we will pretty much degenerate into a puddle of scum as evil is called good, and good called evil.
We must tend to our own souls and carry the Good News of the Gospel and the New Covenant because we cannot stop what is coming any more than we could have stopped Christ's sacrifice for us, His children/brothers/sisters/friends....He has spoken at it WILL BE, no matter how we rant and rail against where society is going.
