When I was a college undergraduate, taking a history course, one day the professor remarked that fraternity initiation rituals were mostly copied from the Masons and from the Romans (i.e., Cathoics). Since I never joined a fraternity, I have no experience of fraternity rituals. But if you're going to copy a ritual, go to a rich source of them.
