Good thing then that according to Protestants there is no need for confession. I’ll just declare myself “saved” and make it all better thereby.

For those who believe in Christ, their sins are already forgiven and have been nailed to the Cross per Colossians 2:13-14.

We do not lose salvation if/when we sin. The Greek in John 5:24 confirms this. Actually, the English is pretty good at conveying the message.

Do we ask for the forgiveness of sins? Yes we do. Is it to keep our salvation? No.

It is to keep our relationship/fellowship right with God.

My dear fellow Freeper, I must say that as a former Roman catholic, and now a non-denominational Christian, that any person who thinks that there is salvation apart from repentance is delusional and ignorant of the word of God.

Please note that I am not assaulting any person, but rather a "theo-political" system that seeks to usurp God's divine authority. No human being has the authority to absolve anyone's sins. And no human being is ever- repeat EVER- infallible.

There is no valid human representation of Christ. There is no valid authority on earth but Christ. There is no giver of revelation to men but the Holy Spirit. And there is no man on earth who has any right to the title of 'vicar of Christ.'

Christ needs no vicar. The Holy Spirit needs no assistance. God needs no man to complete His work. God is God. Who is man to assume His position?
