The idea that this voice speaks first to someone like the Pope, or ‘through’ the Pope to the rest of us, is not something I accept at any level - as a Catholic.

Just where do his infallible pronuncements from from if not God?

Do Catholics believe that God speaks to ANYONE any more? If He doesn't speak to the pope, then where's the hope that anyone can hear His voice?
