The tradition of the one holy catholic apostolic church is to baptize whole families (households), adults as well as children, follows the example of circumcision, albeit it is not circumcision. The tradition was not declared in Scripture, nor before 100ad in any Christan writing. As such, it is not an apostolic tradition. It came later. I do agree that as the Scriptures were examined after the Renaissance, it became clear it was made up at a later date.

This was identification. It was not Christian baptism.
