The pope shows again that he doesn’t know God or the Bible..

The pope needs to know that faith is a substance Hebrews 11:1 and it stands alone..

Jesus said to the ruler of the synagogue and to the pope, “Do not fear, only believe.” Mark 5:36

so called global warming is not equal to faith...faith in faith...

For by the grace given me I say to every one of you: Do not think of yourself more highly than you ought, but rather think of yourself with sober judgment, in accordance with the faith God has distributed to each of you. Romans 12:3

So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God. Romans 10:17

The pope would do well to read a Bible and not the weather charts..

It is a positive move.
It’s about time Serra was canonized, the thing has been in the works for a long time and was most recently held up by the usual anti-colonial politics.
Good for Pope Francis.

"Share your faith"....... right!
As I've said..... he claims the great commission to go into "all" the world to preach the gospel of Christ...... but selectively avoids half the world that is ensnared in the death cancer of islam!, .... As most of the ones who call themselves "the church" do....... sad.

The canonization of St. Junipero, however, was the first such ceremony to be celebrated in the United States rather than at the Vatican.

Francis is just full of novelties.

It’s interesting: Serbian Patriarch Irinej recently came to the United States, and celebrated the canonization of two Serbian-American Saints:

http://www.westsrbdio.org/en/events/canonization/hagiography

St. Sebastian of Jackson, in particular, was a missionary who worked mainly in Western North America. I myself am a Westerner, and especially appreciate that the Serbian Orthodox Church and the OCA recognize Sebastian of Jackson as a Saint!

http://www.westsrbdio.org/en/events/canonization/hagiography/966-the-life-of-st-sebastian-of-jackson

There was and is NO CONTROVERSY surrounding Saints Mardarije and Sebastian!!!! And Patriarch Irinej does not get himself involved in socialist and global warmist pronouncements.

His journey to America was an entirely positive event, with NO traffic jams, NO obama, and little fanfare. But it was entirely equivalent to the over-hyped visit of Pope Francis!

Meanwhile the California legislature is trying to get the statue of Father Serra removed from the US Capitol.

Cardinal Wuerl showed some historical ignorance in his remarks to the pope. He said they were close to the first Catholic church (or where a Catholic Mass was first celebrated, I forget his wording) in what is now the United States, thinking of the colonization of Maryland in 1634. He forgot about the Spanish being in Florida long before that. There were priests on Juan Ponce de Leon's second expedition to Florida in 1521 (I don't know if any were along on his first expedition in 1513). Plus there were priests in the Narvaez expedition to Florida in 1527, and of course St. Augustine, FL, was founded in 1565.

“Canonizations” of schismatics mean nothing to me.

Then share your faith and shut-up about global warming and poverty.

Good show! Now to Canonize Fray Magin Catalia of Mission Santa Clara. That Padre would pray so hard he would levitate! He predicted the rise of San Francisco in 1830 and the earthquake of 1906 that same year! His cause has faltered because of Serra.

I agree. But I go the other way!!!

It is the Frankish popes and their followers who are the schismatics!!!! Now you have a very well-named Frankish pope—”Francis” of all things!!!! Pro-”gay”, pro-”warmist”, pro-”liberation theology”.

Read the handwriting on the wall, learn some history, and come home to the Orthodox Church!!!!

Um, no. The Orthodox Church is false. It is interesting that what you believe is the true church already allows divorce and remarriage.

Also, he didn’t know about New Mexico which was also earlier than Maryland. We are not taught our own history. I didn’t find out about the extensive mission works and peoples of Florida until I had it in New World archaeology. Of course, that’s no excuse for Cardinal Wuerl.

Ah, yes, economia!

https://oca.org/questions/sacramentmarriage/divorce-and-remarriage1

You all have your annulments, especially of famous people. But I know plenty of not-so-famous Catholics who have had divorce and annulment, even when one party didn’t want it, especially because of the children!!!!

Our economia is a lot better.
