Arizona Republican says he cannot attend if Holy Father focuses on 'flawed' climate science

An American Catholic congressman has announced he is boycotting Pope Francis’s address to the US Congress over his views on the environment.

Paul Gosar, a Republican congressman for the State of Arizona, wrote on the Town Hall website that he could not attend Francis’s address next Thursday because it would mostly be about climate change.

Writing that he was excited when he first learned of the visit, he went on: “Many believed, like I did, that this was an opportunity for the Pope to be one of the world’s great religious advocates and address the current intolerance of religious freedom. An opportunity to urgently challenge governments to properly address the persecution and execution of Christians and religious minorities; to address the heinous and senseless murders committed by ISIS and other terrorist organisations. An opportunity to address the enslavement, belittlement, rape and desecration of Christian women and children; to address the condoned, subsidised, intentionally planned genocide of unborn children by Planned Parenthood and society; and finally, an opportunity for His Holiness to refocus our priorities on right from wrong.

However, he wrote, according to the media it would mostly be about global warming, and “that this climate change talk has adopted all of the socialist talking points, wrapped false science and ideology into ‘climate justice’ and is being presented to guilt people into leftist policies. If the Pope stuck to standard Christian theology, I would be the first in line. If the Pope spoke out with moral authority against violent Islam, I would be there cheering him on. If the Pope urged the Western nations to rescue persecuted Christians in the Middle East, I would back him wholeheartedly. But when the Pope chooses to act and talk......

Poor Paul Gosar. He seems unaware that the Pope is not authoritative in matters of politics, science, OR economics. Catholics may disagree with him on those. He has authority on matters of faith and morals and his statements have been traditionally firm there. Regarding faith and morals, the Pope has been absolutely in line with the ancient doctrine of the Church.

Too bad Congress won’t hear the gospel of Jesus Christ from this Pope.

Because Christ didn't sermonize of global warming.

Perhaps it is not God’s time for that. We must remember that human eyes do not see everything...and human intellect does not know everything. Our job is to live a virtuous life in Christ and pray for the salvation of all. In that context, God will best use us in HIS time. ;-)

Wow. What do you see in the mirror? Your response is philosophical cowardess.

Today is the day of salvation! Paul was told he would speak to kings. He didn't go silent about the Gospel and talk about the environment.

Infallible is infallible, just like it says in the bible.

It was indeed the correct time for Paul to speak that. However, that seems to be YOUR interpretation of Paul’s words applied to different circumstances. The scriptures also proclaim that the Holy Spirit blows where He wills. We need to be following the WILL of the Father Who knows if the other person is ready to hear the word...or not. Even Jesus surrendered to the WILL of His Father regarding what was necessary at particular times.

Ecclesiastes 3:1 There is a time for everything, and a season for every activity under the heavens.

Ecclesiastes 3:17 I said in my heart, God will judge the righteous and the wicked, for there is a time [appointed] for every matter and purpose and for every work.

Ecclesiastes 8:6 - Because to every purpose there is time and judgment, therefore the misery of man [is] great upon him.

Proverbs 3:5-6 - Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding.

Acts 1: 7 He said to them, It is not for you to become acquainted with and know what time brings [the things and events of time and their definite periods] or fixed years and seasons (their critical niche in time), which the Father has appointed (fixed and reserved) by His own choice and authority and personal power.

2 Thessalonians 2: 6 And now you know what is restraining Him [from being revealed at this time]; it is so that He may be manifested (revealed) in His own [appointed] time.

Let us trust in the Lord and patiently await HIS timing for all that we do. HIS ways are far higher than our ways.

Galatians 6:9 And let us not grow weary while doing good, for in due season we shall reap if we do not lose heart.

It is sometimes very hard not to share such an important word, but we must learn to discern the Father’s word and patiently await His timing for another person. We should definitely pray and intercede for that person in the meantime.

Lamentations 3:25-26 The Lord is good to those who wait for Him, to the soul who seeks Him. It is good that one should hope and wait quietly for the salvation of the Lord.

Psalm 25:5 Lead me in Your truth and teach me, for You are the God of my salvation; on You I wait all the day.

If the Pope isn’t going to preach the gospel to Congress, then there is no reason for him to speak to them.

Remember when, on occasion, the Catholic Church would criticize public school policy. I say remember because it DOES NOT happen any more.

The Catholic Church is providing social workers to public schools via Catholic Charities. Catholic Charities finds newly graduated idealistic social workers and hires them to the school district as consultants. They pay a poverty level wage ($18,000) and then add an overhead rate that would make a military contractor blush (90-110%).

Never heard about it you say?

Well everyone involved is very happy with the arrangement. The church gets massive and steady revenue -tax free. The school board for it’s part is buying the full faith of the Catholic Church.

12 years of catholic school here -not a hater by any means. But, I have no interest in this church, unless they sell stock and post a dividend. They do have a fantastic business model and no entity will profit more from global warming redistribution.

Undeniably... No NGO is better positioned to profit from global warming redistribution than the Catholic Church.
