Mohammed Ali Zonoobi bends his head as the priest pours holy water over his black hair. "Will you break away from Satan and his evil deeds?" pastor Gottfried Martens asks the Iranian refugee. "Will you break away from Islam?"
"Yes," Zonoobi fervently replies.

Ahhhh taquiyyah, works great everywhere in the Western world. Now where’s my welfare?
Muslim groups try to boast of (and inflate) the number of muslims in the world, but in a good portion on the world, so called ‘muslims’ have no choice in the matter.
They are born into it, taxed into it, and in the case of Saudi Arabia, denied any other texts. Some places even have a death sentence for any ‘muslim’ who’d dare convert away from the faith. Where are the so-called ‘moderate’ muslims to denounce that death sentence for apostates? Where are they to stand up against discrimination by law against non-muslims (jizza tax, banned from segregated cities of Mecca and Medina, unable to access or practice their faith)?
IIRC, the penalty for 'apostacy' is universal in Islam. Some places are just more adamant about enforcing it.
not necessarily in this case. They can stay Moslem and remain in Germany. Also, Iranis in particular are people who could convert from Islam — Islam was imposed on them by the Arab conquerors and Iranis KNOW this
At least there is a possibility now that a few will actually convert, in spite of themselves. Fake it till you make it.
I like to think it is possible for some former moslems to actually be real, born-again Christians. I don’t have an “elector detector” and just have to pray this work isn’t in vain.
“Successful evangelism is sharing Christ in the power of the Holy Spirit and leaving the results to God.”
yea, I expect you are right.
Germany is overrun with muslims..
Assuming these people know what can happen after their conversion theirs are pretty courageous acts.
And because Islam was mostly spread by conquest, they are practicing the religion of their conquerors.
Good news. Convert them—give them Christian Names. They must become Christian or be beheaded now—Welsome to the party—but—you picked the winning side.
Persia strikes me as an obvious candidate for conversion . . . going back to apostolic times. How was it missed . . . or fumbled? Christianity had a six-century head start on Islam.
But no words of Baptism? Maybe I need to read the whole article.
Yes, it was in the article.
**Martens then baptizes the man “in the name of the Father, the Son and the Holy Ghost.”**
Good for them.
This is a synod in communion with the LCMS here in the USA. It is a “free” church, not a state supported one.
I had an Iranian coworker whose Dad flew F4s for the Shaw.
My coworker converted when he was a teen. His mom was furious for years, until she converted. Now, she is more evangelical than he ever was.
There is hope and great reward. I felt blessed to hear his stories.
“Ye must be born again.” This is not merely “conversion” from one religion to another. Do the refugees know this?
A lot of educated Iranians have rejected Islam because of the corruption of their Mullahs. So there are a lot of conversions, mostly secret, in that country. So many of their conversions are probably real.
And I don’t base this on “Christian” publications but on a comment by a website discussing war and conflicts.
However this might not be true for the Arabs.
