The Mormon church will continue to support the Boy Scouts of America despite the group’s decision to allow gay troop leaders, say church leaders.
After a month of deliberation, the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints – which is the nation’s largest sponsor of Boy Scout units and continues to restrict gay and lesbian members from participating fully in church activities and leadership – said in a statement Wednesday that it would maintain its 102-year-old association with Scouting following the BSA’s controversial July decision to let gay men lead Scout units.
The announcement, which comes after the BSA assured church leaders that they would continue to have control over their own hiring, highlights both the progress and problems of attempts to strike a middle ground on gay rights issues – especially for organizations like the Boy Scouts, which has grown increasingly bound to faith-based groups, The Christian Science Monitor’s Amanda Paulson reported last month.

I know at least one non-Mormon Eagle Scout who will never again work with the organization.
To be fair, a LOT of churches that sponsor BS troops are looking the other way.
But it’s WRONG to look the other way.
Best question to ask a supporter: “Would you allow your 14 year old DAUGHTER to sleep in a tent with an 18 year old male? Well... if the scouts have queer leaders, that’s EXACTLY the risk you’ll be subjecting your 14 year old son to.”

It’s obvious you haven’t been near a Scout Troop for years (if ever), if you think Boy Scout Leaders share tents with Scouts. Boy Scout rules allow NO one-on-one interaction between a single Leader and a Scout. There is no way that a Leader would share a tent with a Scout in any current Troop that is following BSA Rules.
I also think they’re taking a wait-and-see approach as to what happens legally. We know they’re not going to allow gay scoutmasters or gay leaders but if they are forced to, that time may come when they drop it, this is interesting wording...

If I wanted to be a Scoutmaster, I would openly say that I am gay. Are they going to challenge me and ask me to prove it?

The Catholic Church is leaving it up to the bishops. The bishops with any common sense are breaking away from sponsoring any BSA troup. The liberal Cupich types could care less, that is until a 10 year old gets molested by a pervert scout leader and the discese gets the hell sued out of it.

Mormons would rather keep their association with the Boy Scouts because it is a way to recruit people into their cult than stand up for Biblical truth.

A church near us is trying to maintain standards by stating that the scout troop sponsored by the church must have leaders who are in alignment with the faith; no adultery, no premarital sex, no homosexuality.
I don’t know if it will stand, but they are trying to do so.
