“In Orthodoxy, these doctrines are living realities. It is of little importance to acknowledge that someone is, in fact, my mother. It is of the utmost importance that I honor my mother (by Divine command) and love her. We do not think doctrine. Doctrine is a description of the realities by which we live. We venerate the Theotokos because, knowing what we know, we cannot do otherwise.”
I don’t like Fr. Freeman at all. But I must admit that the foregoing, in manner of speaking, describes Orthodoxy, “In Orthodoxy, these doctrines are living realities” and “We do not think doctrine. Doctrine is a description of the realities by which we live.” Orthodoxy is everything about us. It defines us. My mother, of blessed memory, always said, “In Greece people walk Orthodox!”
It’s different.
Yes, it’s definitely different!
I should have expected that if something made sense to me, you probably didn’t like it ;-).
Well-said, Kolo. Food for profound thought.
