And that is why a priest is a priest forever, according to the order of Melchizidek. I believe God sends them when a priest is unavailable to give the Last Rites... Kind of like St. Padre Pio did...

I think of my Mom and Dad being there, too...

No kidding, it’s before the Sanctus. The Canon, or Eucharistic Prayer, is wrapped around the Consecration. I would address it with the priest first, then contact my bishop if the preface before the Sanctus is eliminated at Mass...

**And I refuse to applaud for anything at mass**

I agree with this. The choir is not putting on a performance or concert. They are part of the worship liturgy.

I'm with you on the applause.

If you decide to speak to the priest, check this out first: General Instructions for the Roman Missal (GIRM) It's also a great way to learn more about the parts of the Mass. Quote it, and they'll know you've researched this and you're serious: and, hopefully, they'll respond positively. God may be working through you in a special way in this...

(Excerpt)
78. Now the center and high point of the entire celebration begins, namely, the Eucharistic Prayer itself, that is, the prayer of thanksgiving and sanctification. The Priest calls upon the people to lift up their hearts towards the Lord in prayer and thanksgiving; he associates the people with himself in the Prayer that he addresses in the name of the entire community to God the Father through Jesus Christ in the Holy Spirit.
God bless you!
