With all respects, Bob, RE: your post 69, the History Channel is not the place you should go to get to the bottom line on this issue.

True, God’s people are not appointed to God’s wrath, but tribulation from men is not God’s wrath. God’s people have had to endure persecution from men all along. Read Acts, Paul was persecuted by the Jews at every step. Was it the wrath of God? Of course not, likewise the persecutions by the pagans and the Papists.

The tribulation is not the wrath of God, the wrath of God is poured out on the ungodly at the end of the tribulation...and on those who have taken the mark of the beast. Hence, if you do take the mark, having been deceived by the pretrib rapture doctrine, you will not be the “God’s people” you were referring to.

God’s people are people of truth above all, the pretrib rapture is not the truth, but a damnable lie.

The account in Luke is from a teaching Jesus gave in the temple, with lots of listeners. Then he and the four left and walked down the hill and over tot he mount of olives where His disciples asked about more than just the destruction of Jerusalem, about the end of the Age. The accounts in Mark and Matthew are from the Olivet Discourse. The teaching in Luke must have hit home, because 36 years later, when Vespasian’s Legions surrounded Jerusalem but paused the assault for nine months while Vespasian went back to Rome most of the converts to Christ escaped the city and the million plus who were slaughtered by the Roman Legions. The Rapture is going to accomplish something similar, but on a global scale.

My mind cannot comprehend what this world and people left will one day face....I don’t think any can.

If they knew, they'd commit suicide today. It will be that bad.

Um, Paul taught it to the Thessalonians and Corinthians, and the History shows several of the earliest church fathers also believed in the Rapture. I could cite a few for ya, if you’re interested.

The early Church taught the imminence of the Return of Jesus for the church.

The Shepherd of Hermes talks of escaping the tribulation.
287AD an early manuscript found in Egypt speaks to escaping the apocalypse.
AD 387 The PseudoEphraem Sermon taught the pre-trib (authenticity is in question by some)
1304 Brother Dolcino talks of the Rapture
1674 Thomas Collier addressed the pre-trib Rapture
1704 Jon Askel wrote about an 'any moment Rapture' of the church of believers

The notions are not new. The notions were revived in the 1800s as covenant theology sought to untangle the sacriptures which featured Israel in the end times. They did not have our hindsight of seeing the nation remade in 1947 and taking the Temple Mount in 1967. Replacement theology is a fabrication poorly fitted tot he Truths of the Bible.

No, his “comforter” the Holy Spirit is here.

Yeshua is presently at the Right Hand of the Father.

Amen. The Comforter is also known as the ‘restrainer’ as seen in 2 Thess 2.

Matthew 24:29-31 is very clear.

It leaves no room for any secret rapture. The event therein described will be clearly observed in terror by those not gathered.

**The Second Coming of the Messiah has been believed and taught by historical Christians in every century without exception.**

The ‘rapture’ is NOT the second coming of Christ. He will not come down to earth at that time. The ‘catching away’ will be just as Paul described it; “..to meet the Lord in the air..” 1Thess. 4:17.

When the Lord returns to earth, it will be in like manner to way he departed, even setting foot on the place he ascended from: the Mount of Olives. (see Zech. 14:4)

No way would I take the mark of the beast. This is something that cannot be taken unknowingly. Our God does not operate that way. But thanks for your concern.

Matthew 24 is about Daniel’s 70th week, which has not yet come upon us; Satan is still in the presence of God, accusing the saints.

That makes it even more breathtaking to understand that Christ suffered this wrath for all believers on the cross. If it is unimagineable for one person, will we ever comprehend the price He paid?

Our God is truly awesome.

In addition, most of the evidence for the tribulation and rapture are found in Ezekiel and Daniel if they are studied closely.

In the NT, Christ clearly teaches that his return is imminent, not one thing more has to happen before His return for His people. If we are to go through the tribulation, then His return can in no way be imminent, the tribulation has to happen first. There are many other reasons I believe there will be a pre-trib rapture, and not one of them comes from fictional books, although I believe LaHaye got it pretty close to the way it will happen.

NO!

It is the pouring out of Satan’s wrath on the saints.

The pouring out of God’a wrath comes immediately after the trib, and the resurrection of YHVH’s elect. It lasts ten days, and is called the Bowl Judgements.

...”will we ever comprehend the price He paid?”....

Only enough to see we need his forgiveness I think. I remember when the reality of that came home to my heart....that my sin put him there...it was crushing!

You are way off base. Not one of us would take the mark. I don’t pretend to know it all, but the pre trib rapture fits the best with the 20 or so years of study I have been doing regarding the end times for numerous reasons. If the rapture is not pre-trib, Christ will get me through it, but in no way am I in danger of losing my salvation over end times doctrine. Again, the mark of the beast is not something you will be able to take without knowing its import.

Then don't come on to these threads looking like you're just trying to pick a fight and provoke a response.

For the record we were pinged, we did not come looking for this thread.
