The following Bibles either used a Latin word meaning departure (the 4th century Latin Vulgate), or an English evrsion using the word departure, as in THE DEparture:

1384 Wycliffe Bible
1388 Wycliffe-Prvey Bible
1526 Tyndale Bible
1535 Cloverdale Bible
1539 Cranmer Bible
1540 Geneva Bible
1576 Breeches Bible

the 1582 Rhiems Bible used revolt

1583Beza Bible used departing, as in The Departing
1608 Geneva Bible used THE Departing
1611 King James changed the Rheims rendering to 'falling away'

WHEN you read the Revelation, you will see that God states He will seal 12,000 from the twelve tribes, where they are, in Israel or elsewhere. That one hour of study a day needs some tweaking, FRiend.

Ugh!!! Christians have been being martyred for 2000 years now...That's a goodly amount of time between the 5th and 6th seals...

So you see the beheadings of the recent years as insignificant in the fulfillment of God's word?

No beheading is insignificant. But these now being beheaded and those a thousand years ago beheaded for their witness are not those beheaded during the Tribulation. Nero managed to make worse evil upon the faithful than just beheading them. He used to cover them in pitch and wrap them in animal skins soaked in fuel oil and set them on fire to light his parties. Is it any wonder Nero died suddenly when Vespasian and his brutal son Titus were at Jerusalem’s door?

The Greek word in the manuscripts is "apostasia". I don't think if Jesus were to pluck His people from the earth, He would call that an "apostasy". I guess that's why the word "rapture" was used, it sounds a lot better.

I can't figure out what your point is. You said it will only only be Jews who testify during the Tribulation, I said no it will be from all tribes, the Jews being just one. What is your reply again?

So you think all is the same as it has been. Not me, I see birth pangs. And I see we are in the Tribulation, the falling away already occurring on a big scale.

You got the unfortunate number...

Next time it comes up, try to not be so reasonable. Write up something fittingly despicable, instead.

Or would that be too much to ask? <[8^')

Jerome was a devout man and gave his lifetime to translate the Greek Bible into Latin, even the Septuagint. He used the Latin root word rapio for ‘apostasia’. His view of the event was of a sudden snatching away. That fits with the rest of the verses preceding the third and following where the Restrainer is spoken of as retraining and then being taken out of the way and unrestrained lawlessness unleashed.

I think I'll stick with the original manuscripts rather than the opinion of Jerome.

The Jews are specially tasked with evangelizing the world during the Tribulation. There will be lots of non-Jews who will testify that The Christ has come and taken away the born from above. These will give up their lives for this belief and they show up in Heaven at the wedding as guests, whose garments are ‘washed white as snow in the blood of the lamb’. But the Jews are specifically named during the Tribulation as His witnesses. Whereas in the Church Age there is no differentiating between Jews and Gentiles.

Okay, great idea! That link I gave for 2 Thess 2 will allow you to see the best Greek copies available. IIRC there is even Hebrew of the Septuagint origins, if that’s your thing. Point being, Jerome was faithful to what the GReek text taught, and he is vindicated in his opinion/translation because it conforms to the verses previous and following, in meaning.

Removing pilots would be an act of Jesus.

And what was 40 days of rain?

Those men were trying to murder the children of Israel.

Can't have any of that; can we!
