Please keep in mind (as I previously posted) that I clicked on this thread because I thought (knew) it would be interesting. It was. Myself...I gave up on the RF long ago. Way to brutal for me. lol. Informative..but not enough to spend time there.

Yes, unfortunately, it can be. I've been insulted in many ways, and have had every cheap-trick tactic in the book and then some, sent my way. Eventually, I learned. Learned the subject matter, and the most usual paths of reasoning, along with eventually taking notice of the flaws within what at first may seem solid reasoning.
And learned how to have those who like to serve "it" up for others to eat, that they can have a taste of what they dish out to others, when it goes towards making it personal, since some folks take it all personal from the get-go, and cannot seem to discuss some issue or another without including remarks clearly enough intended to be insulting, and taken personally by whom the comments are addressed to.
