"What is your gripe about that thread? It’s not bashing another religion."

Please point out a "gripe" I have made. I am just trying to find out if the ban is about Catholics bashing protestants as well as protestants bashing Catholics. If you know the definitive answer, please expound.

No practicing Catholic would ever bash another religion

Catholics have certainly bashed Protestants here. It has worked both ways.

I have seen it posted that Catholism is the only church. I don’t agree. They’re welcome to think that if they wish.

I have respect for both Catholics and Protestants. I believe Jesus is the only way. I believe both Protestants and Catholics will be in Heaven.

I certainly don’t agree with bashing Catholics. That does’t work with with me. But, I’ll add, I will disagree with the Pope when he starts pushing global warming and speaks out against capitalism.

How about the Protestant-bashing threads by Catholics?

Thank you! I have never understood why anyone needs to attack fellow Christians and Jews at a time when the world is collapsing around all of us. We have perversions being made mandatory, babies being murdered for body parts, Christians being slaughtered for their faith, and a government that wants to destroy the moral identity of our country.

It's time to unite, not divide.

Ditto. It is a question of priorities -- Christians are being surrounded on all sides like never before, with persecution growing worldwide including right here in the US. Ask yourself what furthers God's Kingdom more in sharing Christ's love with non-believers -- is it having a servant's heart, is it loving your neighbor as yourself, and is it witnessing your faith to the them both in word and deed? Or is spending hours hunched over the keyboard typing hateful Catholic-bashing posts that go on endlessly for thread after thread after thread?

Let me add that no one should be able to post a Protestant bashing thread, either.

I say that as a Catholic.

So if I was to post a thread from some Catholic source (note—I know of none, but there may be some out there) that says all Protestants or Baptists or Lutherans are heretics and going to Hell because they reject the one, true Church than yes, that would be bashing.

But a thread about a Evangelical who was once a Catholic and changed or a Baptist who is now a Catholic is not bashing, IMHO, unless of course it starts with “I left that Roman Whore of Babylon Church because...” Or “I left those damned-to-Hell Heretics and joined the one, true Church because....”

And Jim simply wants us to use our own judgment on that.

Read my statement. Again

No PRACTICING Catholic

That means, any Catholic who knows the faith. It is a true statement. The catechism states it. All catholic theology states it

Anyone even the enemy can say tgey are catholic. It does not mean that they are or that they speak for Catholics

Beware

No practicing Catholic would never ever bash someone’s religion It is against their religion to do so

That thread is over the top. No need for the tone to get nasty. However, I have seen the axe swing both ways.

I am an evangelical christian, and I have very substantial differences with Roman Catholic doctrine and practices. However, I don't get into these threads either side.

Thank you, Jim. To paraphrase something I often tell my children, “It goes without saying that we disagree, so you can stop saying it.”

I’ve been upfront about where I stand. The Catholic bashing here got out of hand and I’m putting my foot down. If that’s too restrictive for your tastes, bug out. I’ve made my stand!

How about the Protestant-bashing threads by Catholics?

I think the problem I have is that the liberal definition of "bashing" is being used, simply meaning anything you say about me that makes me look bad is "bashing". I had hoped to prompt Jim for a more thoughtful response that would exhibit principled thought that reasonable people could understand. Apparently, that response will not be forthcoming.

Instead, I read that when the Pope is wrong the pope is wrong, but that is not "bashing".

Look, Jim’s post is perfectly clear and here’s your original post to me:

“I am actually just trying to determine if this kind of thread is also included. If so, Jim’s ban seems even handed.”

Clearly, that thread is not included. It’s not “flame bait.”

FYI: Jim’s “ban” as you call it, doesn’t have to be “even-handed,” because the current problem is coming from one side. Try to comprehend that.

Have a blessed Lord’s Day.

So you wouldn’t speak out against Islam, atheism, etc.?

I prefer truth.

That said, I have family and friends that are Catholic. I have never understood strong disagreements between Catholics and Protestants. Honestly, I consider the differences mostly trivial.

A thread about a Jewish girl who became a Catholic Nun is not bashing in any sense, unless she says bad things about the Jewish faith and people. She didn’t.

She only talked about why SHE became Catholic—her own reasons.

I would be equally at ease with it if it was about a Jewish man become a Baptist preacher, given the same.

Seriously, you cannot see a difference?

1. FR is pro-God. That is the one true Judeo-Christian God of the Holy Bible. We will worship none other. And no false gospel shall be taught here as Truth.

2. Resistance to tyrants is obedience to God!

I posted some Tozer threads at one point that had not made any reference to Catholicism, and someone keyworded them as “Catholic bashing”.

It’s going to be pretty difficult then to determine what “Catholic bashing” is then.
