True, the Russians were liberating camps in the summer of '44 but most of the Jews were already murdered. The British and Americans liberated camps in April, 1945. There may have been incidental casualties around the camps but I'm not aware of any battles. The Germans surrendered on May 7. At Buchenwald, for example, the prisoners seized control of the camp before the American forces arrived.
