I am Catholic too.
Page 41 and 42 he mentions the United States Bishops being called out specifically
“it is appropriate to point “especially on the needs of the poor, weak and vulnerable, a debate often dominated by the interests more powerful. “ 31 We must strengthen the concept that we are one human family. There borders and barriers are political or social allow us to isolate ourselves, and for that reason there is even room for globalization quelling indifference.”
I have been very grateful and blessed to have known priests from literally all over the world. We have had a bit of vocational crisis here, but look what that has afforded us! If we listen and take the time to understand where other people are coming from.
BTW, I am 51. What do you care how old I am, you're thinking. Here is my point, I absolutely fell in love with John Paul II at a very tender age. I think what made him so effective and affective is that he was able to break down the social, societal, nationalistic, political ideological barriers and declare that we were all one! We were Catholics. World Youth Day grew out of that vision. JPII had the gift of language. Pope Francis not so much, but he has a different reason for being Pope and we have not seen it yet. Time will tell. We must be patient and pray.
You know that God has blessed us so much! This country we live in! Maybe God's focus needs to be on others at this time. The point is only God knows what the plan is and Francis can not talk like an American born Christian Conservative Republican any more that I can be from Argentina.
