You are right, but there is more to it than that. It is not just the unconscious nature of childbirth as distinct from the consciously willed act of creation, but that that which is born is of the same nature as the birthgiver. The created and the Uncreated are not only not of the same nature, but cannot be compared — anything one says about God using ordinary words applicable to created things is always insufficient and in some way inaccurate.

Indeed, God is Spirit. We are often insensible to him even though he keeps us in being from moment to moment. Like fish in the water, we are unconscious of the air that we absorb until it iis taken away.

The early church, as you put it, also rewrote the Old Testament while writing/editing the New to eliminate Mother God? Judaism, from which Christ came, cidentifies God as male. You may employ all the mental and word gymnastics you wish. It is God the Father. Period.

Actually I said that happened with the term "Holy Spirit/Ghost." Is that part of Judaism? Judaism also doesn't acknowledge Christ. So should that be thrown out too, since it's "God the Father, Period"?

Dodging the issue.

God is HE. Very simple, that.

Glad you're happy. People who disagree, however, aren't "dodging" the issue, they're disagreeing. And they're not disagreeing with God, they're disagreeing with you. Try to keep the two concepts separate.

While you are better off regarding it as a simple matter, and just sticking with the gender the divinely inspired Scriptures, more-or-less always use, I don’t think it is.

As SkyDancer reminded us Our Lord told us God is Spirit. The Evangelist John also tells us God is love, and both Moses and the Holy Apostle Paul tell us that Our God is a consuming fire. Properly speaking, neither sex nor gender — binary distinctions which exist only in the created — apply to the Uncreated. And yet, there is a reason God always reveals Himself under masculine imagery and chose to become Incarnate as the only-begotten son of the Blessed Virgin Mary, not her only-begotten daughter (and it isn’t the cultural preferences of His People Israel, which He’d been shaping for centuries, and could have shaped the other way had He so willed).

See my post #18, above, for my guess at the reason.
