"I feel like saying something that may sound controversial or even heretical. But there is someone who knows that despite our differences we are one. It is he who is persecuting us. It is he that is persecuting Christians today; he who is anointing us with the blood of martyrdom, knows that Christians are disciples of Christ. That we are one, that we are brothers! He doesn't care if they are Evangelicals, Orthodox, Lutherans, Catholics or Apostolic. He doesn't care! They are Christians."

When capitalized, the ‘c’ in Catholic Church indicates a proper noun, meaning the organization whose leader is the Pope. When not capitalized, it indicates the universal church. At the time of Council, there was only the Catholic Church, however, the Armenians, Copts, and Greeks were not unified with Rome, which was one of the reasons for having the Council.

Secondarily, to use the quotation to justify the requirement all Christians be Roman Catholic, is out of context.

While I believe the fullness of the Christian truth is found in the Roman Catholic Church, and would hope all come to Jesus through it, it isn’t up to me.

God is a just and merciful God. He alone determines entrance into Heaven.

All Christians washed by the Blood of Christ are one, just as Christ and the Father are one. It doesn’t matter what denomination you are if any, just that you have accepted Christs finished work on the cross and are washed by His Blood.

There is only on Church. There are many churches, and the true Church is composed of believers from all denominations, just as there are those in all denominations that are not saved.

This pope has personally told protestant pastors like Joel Osteen, Rick Warren and others he has no desire in them becoming Catholic. He said we are brothers in Christ and it makes not a wit what denomination they might belong to. If that is not the talk of a heretic I don’t know what is.

It always amazes me that the followers of Rome more times than not identify as catholic.

True followers of Christ identify as Christians as noted in Acts 11:26. They were not called catholics.

In fact, you don't see the roman catholic church mentioned at all in the NT.

sorry, I do not look to the RC as a standard for anything — I disagree with multiple errors if not outright heresy taught by the Romans. I am a Christian, washed and saved by the Blood of Christ. It is possible to be a Christian outside of Rome - some of us even think it is easier to be a Christian outside of Rome. Apparently many Romans do not think any of us outside Rome are saved - you have a big surprise coming.

It’s impossible to ascend above purgatory as a practicing protestant. But congratulations on staying out of the eternally burning cauldron. Once in purgatory, God will purify your soul and make you into a Catholic, and then you’ll find heaven and meet Jesus.

Knowing the context and the scripture is usually helpful

Not for catholics! See their take on John 2:5. From that they've built a whole religion around Mary!

Catholics like BINGO (or so I’ve been told, I’ve never played)! Thank you so much, BROTHER in Christ!

I ran the bingo game for the local K of C or many years and the VAST majority of our players were not our parishiners...Bingo is a fun, relaxing game, a lot of people having a lot of fun, and they ALL seemed to get along just fine....same crowd played at the American legion and the VFW...

Matt 16 18 And I say also unto thee, That thou art Peter, and upon this rock I will build my church; and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it. At what point will you finally realize that the "it" Christ was referring to, just might not be the Church.

Never

That's about the biggest bunch of nonsense I've ever read.

As a Christian, you're already purified in God's eyes.

What then shall we say that Abraham, our forefather according to the flesh, has found? 2For if Abraham was justified by works, he has something to boast about, but not before God. 3For what does the Scripture say? “ABRAHAM BELIEVED GOD, AND IT WAS CREDITED TO HIM AS RIGHTEOUSNESS.” 4Now to the one who works, his wage is not credited as a favor, but as what is due. 5But to the one who does not work, but believes in Him who justifies the ungodly, his faith is credited as righteousness, 6just as David also speaks of the blessing on the man to whom God credits righteousness apart from works:

7“BLESSED ARE THOSE WHOSE LAWLESS DEEDS HAVE BEEN FORGIVEN, AND WHOSE SINS HAVE BEEN COVERED.

8“BLESSED IS THE MAN WHOSE SIN THE LORD WILL NOT TAKE INTO ACCOUNT.” (Romans 4:1-8)

And just what is a "valid" baptism??

Baptize in the name of the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit, as Jesus instructed.

The first century Didache presents more details of early Church practice:

And concerning baptism, baptize this way: Having first said all these things, baptize into the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit, in living water. But if you have no living water, baptize into other water; and if you cannot do so in cold water, do so in warm. But if you have neither, pour out water three times upon the head into the name of Father and Son and Holy Spirit. But before the baptism let the baptizer fast, and the baptized, and whoever else can; but you shall order the baptized to fast one or two days before.

Another mistranslation?

There isn't anything new here.

The devil, who is creating martyrs, recognizes his enemies to be Christians.

Catholics regard other baptized Christians as united to the Body of Christ to varying degrees, while not possessing the fullness of faith.

I do NOT reject that the Church is the one true Church, but I do believe that all followers and believers in Jesus Christ are Christians.

then why don't they just rejoin the true church....what are they trying to prove???....are they Christians...yes, but either incomplete or in error.....but WHY??????

There is no biblical injunction that the new believer to be baptized must fast.

If they want to that's ok.....but it's not a requirement for baptism.

The didache is an example of early false teaching creeping into the church. It's one of the reasons it was not included in the canon.

” Actually, the Word notes that if you are not in Christ you are an enemy. (Romans 5:10) You’re either with Christ or not. “

To clarify...

Before someone comes to faith in Christ, they are in the position of being an enemy to God. Separated. Lost in sin. Under condemnation. In need of a Savior because it is impossible to pay the penalty for their sins, since that penalty is death.

And so were we.

Those who are moving toward being in a right relationship with God, but are not yet, are not my enemy. They are not yet family. They are closer than those who do not care.

My job is to love them and encourage them toward a right relationship with him.

What the LORD says about this is right there in black and white: “anyone who so much as gives someone a cup of water IN MY NAME will not lose his reward”.

Might be good to give the context a look before you quote a scripture,..Something Catholics have a real problem doing

Take a look at Matthew 10... and you quickly see it is not a general "promise" but one that rewards those who "give water" to the righteous ( the saved)

40 “Anyone who welcomes you welcomes me, and anyone who welcomes me welcomes the one who sent me. 41 Whoever welcomes a prophet as a prophet will receive a prophet’s reward, and whoever welcomes a righteous person as a righteous person will receive a righteous person’s reward. 42 And if anyone gives even a cup of cold water to one of these little ones who is my disciple, truly I tell you, that person will certainly not lose their reward.”

Jesus was very clear.. good works, even done in His name will not save

Many will say to me in that day: Lord, Lord, have not we prophesied in thy name, and cast out devils in thy name, and done many miracles in thy name? And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, you that work iniquity.

Could we have a source for this nonsense ?? It sounds just like the Mormon soul prison
