The inquisition, largely a political but somewhat religious situation was ABSOLUTELY a necessity in history for Christianity to survive...the Christians (Catholics) at that time were defending the faith...along came revolutionaries who destroyed cathedrals, libraries, monasteries, art work, iconology, people....whatever in their sick attempt to alter Christian teaching....the revolutionaries were as intent on destroying Christianity as the Catholics were in defending it....much history of Christianity was destroyed by the revolutionaries.....kind of like the ISIS of their times....if you don't like it, destroy it and since there had never been a need to defend against such madness, the Catholics depended on a violent anti-heretical policy to defend Christianity....very bloody, but Christianity survived....
It seems the church is dying today.
Should we bring back the rack?
