No one is sweeter than you, Salvation, but that doesn’t mean Baptists are going to accept Thomas Merton or any other catholic teaching. It is not meant to be a personal attack on you. I’ve looked at some of your catholic postings and to be honest, I find the Mary worship very shocking, among other things. There are some areas we will simply never agree upon.

Catholics do not worship Mary.
We honor her just like you might honor your own mother.

There is no Catholic teaching called "Thomas Merton," any more than there is a Baptist teaching called "David Cloud". Catholics are as obligated to follow or agree with Merton as Baptists are obligated to follow or agree with Cloud … that is to say, not at all!
BTW, the idea that Catholic mysticism rejects doctrine is as ridiculous as most things Cloud says. Teresa of Avila was mystic; she didn't "reject doctrine" in any way, shape, or form. Augustine said, "Our hearts are restless until they rest in Thee"; did the Doctor of Grace reject doctrine? Of course not!

Catholics don’t worship Mary. She is holy, but not divine. Worship is reserved for the Divinity.

...to be honest, I find the Mary worship very shocking, among other things. Well then you should be very relieved! Catholics do not worship Mary. There! Don't you feel better now?
