They had that and that was enough for people to verify Paul's teachings with and for people to recognize who Jesus was. The Bereans SEARCHED the Scriptures to see if what they were TOLD matched up with the Word.

Why do we Prots get such scorn heaped upon us for doing exactly the same thing? I am not sure, but I will take a guess. Maybe they figure the scriptures will take people away from the RCC, and they don't want the competition?
