No one has any idea what your interpretation is about overall beliefs — however, we do know that specific to this case, your specific, individual interpretation clashes with the interpretation of the majority of Christians in this time and in past ages, up to apostolic times. However, if you want to have your own intrepration that disagrees with those who chronologically are closer to Christ’s time, then that’s your choice

Don't lose track of your initial accusation:

Yet, all of the Churches that cling to orthodoxy would disagree with your interpretation of Christian belief, boatbums

So, like I said,

Seeing as you have NO idea what "my" interpretation of Christian belief is, you cannot make such a statement and it be valid. I can, however, state that everything I believe concerning my Christian faith can be backed up by the Divinely-inspired word of God. Can you?

In every case where the Christian faith tenets are discussed that I have participated, I have never failed to explain exactly what I believe. If you now want to assert my "specific, individual interpretations" clash with those of the Apostles and Holy Scripture, then you will have to be more specific. Just tossing out such a nebulous warning serves no other purpose but to foment dissent. Your assertion that "all of the Churches that cling to orthodoxy would disagree with" my interpretation of Christian belief, remains an empty and bogus claim. I'd venture that MOST all of my Christian beliefs are in sync with the truly orthodox beliefs. What/who do you imagine I disagree with?

JFTR...being "chronologically" closer to Christ's time isn't what makes a belief orthodox. It is whether or not the belief was taught by Jesus and the Apostles and preserved in God's word. I'll gladly disagree with the many ancient heresies that existed back then and those that still do today.

To repeat, everything I believe concerning my Christian faith can be backed up by the Divinely-inspired word of God. Can you do the same? Appealing to an ancient witness is no guarantee of fidelity to the truth.

Well said.

I always find it amusing that we are often accused of not making our beliefs clear when I doubt there’s a one of us who hasn’t been very clear about what we believe.

What we refuse to do is align ourselves with any one denomination and some people hate not being able to pin labels on others. What I’ve noticed is that it then fails to provide them with fodder to attack us with. That way, they cannot take any bizarre, off the cuff comment that some kook who is loosely associated somehow, some way, with that same group said and ask us why we agree with them.

If we’re unclear about something we believe, all they have to do is ask. Or for that matter READ. And that means, read what we actually said, not what they wish we said, or think we said, or want us to have said.

I would say "pangit" is a much better description.

Bottom line is that we can back up our beliefs with scripture and what Jesus and the apostles taught and Catholics can not.

Why do you insist on bringing Mormon doctrine into a Christian discussion.....who cares what they teach???

Why do you insist on bringing PROTESTANT doctrine into a CATHOLIC discussion.....who cares what they teach???

Oh honey!

The Mormons are SO much like the Catholics that it ain't FUNNY!

Same top down leadership (if you can actually FIND any Mormon 'leadership' these days. You want a MALL? Can do! But hear from GOD? Highly unlikely.)

Rome? Got SLC

Fancy buildings? Check

Hordes of 'missionaries'? Well...

Mormon's got the BoM -- Catholics got their 'traditions'

Gotta get past St. Pete at the Pearly Gates? Got JS waiting there instead...
