Hitler was democratically elected by the German people

WRONG! He was never elected, in fact the Nazis were routed in the last free election, Hitler was appointed Chancellor by Von Papen to get back at his rival, von Schleicher. They thought they could control Hitler, but behind the scenes Hitler engineered a coup to seize power.

On July 31, 1932, the Nazis won 230 out of 608 seats in the Reichstag, making them its largest party. Nazis and Nationalists had 247 out of 583 seats in the Reichstag, not the majority, but with enough power for Hitler be legally sworn in Jan 30, 1933 as Chancellor Germany by President Hindenburg. It was not a coup de etat, that came later, and certainly not a democratic model for our standards, but legally according to the German laws.
