The Vatican on Thursday unexpectedly ended its controversial reform of the main umbrella group of U.S. nuns, cementing a shift in tone and treatment of the U.S. sisters under the social justice-minded Pope Francis.

unexpected.
Absolutely.
“It’s just a malignant tumor. Let the next Pope handle it.”
Not really. It makes sense that the Church would not have any authority over a non Catholic group. The Vatican does not discipline Wiccans why should it discipline the LCWR?
They didn’t excommunicate them.

too hard a crackdown would let them steal the hospitals and colleges from the church, like the Tuscon hospital that left the church after doing an abortion on a woman instead of transferring her for alternative treatment (transplant). a crackdown would result in the press equating these leftist lesbian nuns as victims, and portray them as if they were still the holy nuns of the past. Low informational voter types would believe the press, not their kids or friends who know the horror stories of what they are teaching, or rather what they aren't teaching, our kids.
