The modern Catholic Church has defined her relations to non-Christian religions in a document entitled Nostra Aetate. The section on Islam begins thus:

The Church regards with esteem also the Muslims. They adore the one God, living and subsisting in Himself; merciful and all-powerful, the Creator of heaven and earth, who has spoken to men.

Their own catechism says as much. Any claim that the catechism is being misunderstood IMO should cite a document least as authoritative as the catechism, if we're supposed to take it seriously.

Interesting that everyone upstream answers with a resounding no. Yet no one provides an authoritative source from Rome that usurps the teaching of the Roman Catholic Catechism..
